kelley

I liked the series however Ryan gets on my nerves with all the questions could have done without that character and/or left him home. Very annoying but I love your books.

Breathing

The narrator although good, needs to work on breath control. I was annoyed to hear the gasp at the end of each reading.

great interactions

love the humor and interactions between Alex, Cole and Ryan. Especially love Cole's sense of humor. Narrator does a good job of making each character individual, but I think he makes Ryan seem whiney. I know he can do both male and female voices, but I just don't see Alex falling for a whiney guy.

Thrilling?

I did really enjoy the Silencer series. It was thrilling and exciting! This one had me wondering if I accidentally picked out some teen girl romance novel! I see the CIA covert connection in the context but it just wasn't coming across in the narration I guess! Not my cup of action packed tea.

Predictable, unrealistic, still worth a listening

I think that I would have liked this series when I was a teenager, but I have learned too many things about how humans really work, that now I find this book quite unrealistic. The narration though by Jennifer O'donnell makes it almost enjoyable, and I believe that Mike Ryan should be thankful to her for improving the story a great deal. Even though that sometimes I felt like the writer was not a native speaker for especially the conversations are not like the living-breathing language we usually hear.

There are so many things that "do not add up", that I really don't know where to start. The whole storyline is more than predictable, you can always be two steps ahead of the main characters and I think this gives a lot of contentment to people for feeling smarter than the top CIA agents. LOL Speaking of the characters: nobody, not a single human being works like this - emotionally or in terms of behavior, etc. Every character is extremely shallow, and they are such good persons, that even when they are teasing each other they are begging for forgiveness. Also how could a top CIA agent with more than 100 kills under her belt look like a top-model and behave like a Disney-princess? Such a woman would have legs like a cyclist, a waist line like a wrestler, high cheekbones, a wide face, if she would be blond, her hair would be colorless and damaged, etc. And someone with more the a hundred kills would not behave like any of the described happenings in the book - maybe except for the fight scenes.

Since I am working with technology, the level of "un-expertise" in this area sometimes made me mad. For example: how do you pick the lock of a hotel room these days? Seriously? And there are other things that would have been outdated in the '90s already, still it looks like the top experts at the CIA use them. Come on.

But - to end on a high note - I would still say that it is worth a listening if you are doing something that could be done while listening to this series in the background (housework, DIY, driving, sports, etc.). It is an average product, if it was filmed, you would watch it, and have no bad feelings about seeing it, although you would not even remember watching it a year later.

A Spy Adventure / Romance made for Women

The protagonists... Alex Parker & Jim Cole. The story itself was compelling enough that I wanted to see it through to the end, and it has some very compelling storylines in it, some very original. What detracted from that was that the protagonist's (Alex) boyfriend (Ryan Turner) is an idiot. He thinks he should be taken seriously, And Alex listens to him. This puts him, and the protagonists in great danger many times, and to me, this would not happen in real life, he would've been dead 10 times over. He should have been left at home at least half the time, it would have made the story more believable. As I mentioned, it's more a romance adventure novel for women because although I cheered for the couple many times, I smacked myself on the forehead many times saying come on, you can't be serious. This is the third series I've listened to by Mike Ryan, and while the first two were excellent, this one left me a little disappointed as I expected more.
