About this listen

Why be normal when you can be paranormal?

Welcome to Mystic Springs, where things definitely go bump in the night.

As the town’s medium, Connie Winters is the only person who can see the ghosts who call Mystic Springs home. When young temptress Lola is killed, the dead mayor and the dead sheriff are determined to investigate. Since they’ve never been replaced with live counterparts, they’d better get on with it. But they need Connie’s help. And if Connie’s helping, her sister Sage is going to get involved too - she’s beautiful, slim, and 20 years dead.

Connie must battle her own inner demons in order to believe she’s capable of succeeding. But she has no idea what she’s up against, because when your life has been destroyed, you have nothing left to lose.

A very good start to a series...

It's a very interesting concept for a cozy mystery: ghosts taking up a murder investigation, with a little help from the only living person who can see and talk to them :) Why do the ghosts have to do it? Because there are no law officers in town - no police force, no sheriff, no-one... And so they do what they have to do to make sure that their town is again as safe as before:)

I like this concept a lot; there are many paranormal cozies out there, but it's ususally witches who do the job. Having a medium and her long dead sister as main characters/sleuths is a nice change... The murder case itself is intriguing, with leads taking us here and there, with suspects having plausible motifs for murder and a logical, though quite paranormal solution:) Characters - the good and the villainous ones - are colourful, vividly and quite realistically portrayed (even though many of them are ghosts:)), and most of them are likeable...

Narration by Ms Beattie is very good, with the right pace and nicely done voices; some of them may sound a bit too similar to one another but I didn't have any problem with recognizing who was who, so that's OK.

It's a very good interpretation of the book which kept me listening from chapter one to the end in one sitting:)

Cute!

This is a cute little mystery and I enjoyed listening. I was left with some questions and had to keep reminding myself that this only book 1. I'm hoping to world continues to develop and grow with each new installment. The narrator has a very pleasant voice and she did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life! I'll be looking for more of her work. I was provided a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Love the characters, both the living and the dead.

I LOVED this book! Wonderful setting, delightful characters both living and dead! I'll definitely be reading more of this series. Love a mature, not thin main character!

Good but not my thing

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't get invested this one. I like mysteries with ghosts, but this one seems more like ghosts with a side order of murder. The characters certainly are and are very clearly portrayed.
The narrator is exceptional and stays perky throughout.
