Publisher's summary

Carrie Vaughn's The Ghosts of Sherwood revisits the Robin Hood legend with a story of the famed archer's children.

Everything about Father is stories.

Robin of Locksley and his one true love, Marian, are married. It has been close on two decades since they beat the Sheriff of Nottingham with the help of a diverse band of talented friends. King John is now on the throne, and Robin has sworn fealty in order to further protect not just his family, but those of the lords and barons who look up to him - and, by extension, the villagers they protect.

There is a truce. An uneasy one, to be sure, but a truce, nonetheless. But when the Locksley children are stolen away by persons unknown, Robin and Marian are going to need the help of everyone they’ve ever known, perhaps even the ghosts that are said to reside deep within Sherwood.

And the Locksley children, despite appearances to the contrary, are not without tricks of their own...

Well Met!

This is quite a departure from The Kitty Norville Saga but quite amusing in its own way. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Ever wonder what Robin Hood's kids were like

A fun short story about Mary, John and Eleanor who are Robin of Locksley and Lady Marian's children. It turns out they inherited more than a clear aim from their father and independent spirit from their mother. Great story, Ms. Vaughn. Great telling, Ms. Masters.

One of my favorite 2020 listens

You can't go wrong with the combination of story-and-narrator here. Angele Masters does a beautiful job bringing out individual character voices in this piece, and Vaughn faithfully brings to life the courage and loyalty that readers expect from a Robin Hood story. This was a delightful respite in a tumultuous year, and I look forward to listening to again. (And, probably, again.)

Nice teaser..now where is the rest of it? The meeting between Mary and husband to be? Why is she mute? Will there be trouble with the other Duke? So much there to expand on. In the immortal words of Oliver..." can I have MORE porridge PLEASE.

A Decent Little Story

I’ve read/listened to plenty of Tor.com’s wares over the years and know just how much story can be put into the short form. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t a ton of substance to this one. It’s a very light-hearted story that expands on the Robin Hood lore but doesn’t add a whole heck of a lot to it. It was just ok, but a story that will give you enjoyment on a lunch break.
