Fun paranormal mystery

So, not paranormal given that the ghosts and witches are defined in mostly normal terms. still, a fun diverting read/listen with an accomplished narrative performance.

Grisly Ghoul Murder Mystery

This series continues to draw me in. I also HIGHLY recommend checking out volume 1.5 The Witch Who Killed Christmas. It is a short standalone but a great story that was a joy to read. Jeannie really impresses me with her ability to create such unique and developed characters (living and non), an immersive world with overarching narrative threads, and inventive new ideas about the paranormal. Alf is really committing to the Wonky Inn and trying to get the place spic, span, and fully staffed so she can open doors. Some new characters of this world and the next arrive with some fascinating information to add to this environment. The idea that a ghost that can be murdered....repeatedly, both grisly and fascinating concept. The pacing of the story is excellent, the mystery engaging, the magic wonderfully woven throughout and feels natural as opposed to a mere genre accessory as I've noticed in other tales. I will also add Kim Bretton is a phenomenal narrator on this series, one of the best bringing these cast of characters to life with clearly discernible accents. Such a delight to read and I am eager to jump into the next volume. If you enjoyed the first volume this second book will not disappoint you. Great for those looking for a well done paranormal cozy mystery with lots of humor and eccentric characters and currently no romance and more focus on intrigue, comedy, magic, and character development which I really enjoyed.

Can a ghost be killed again?

Our heroine is awakened by a crying ghost that claims she is going to be killed again. Is that even possible?

I love the Wonky Inn series. It has just the right amount of the fantastic to be believable, almost like a real place. And the characters (including the dead ones!) are quirky, unique and just downright fun. Our heroine has to face problems, but there is enough humor throughout the story to keep it light and fun. This is a perfect relaxing story to listen to. Now I just need the next one.

Since this is an audobook review, I should point out that the narration is excellent, well paced and easy to understand with a plumy British accent that fits the story perfectly.

Highly recommended.
