About this listen

Mr. Darcy’s proposal is rejected

But a hero is born

Elizabeth Bennet was entirely surprised when Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy proposed marriage to her. He was more surprised when Elizabeth forcefully rejected him. Colonel Fitzwilliam, caught in the middle, fuels her considerable self-doubt. Had she been wrong about the rude and snobbish Mr. Darcy?

Jane is shaken by events of the past, and the scales fall from her eyes, revealing to her a world filled with evil. Her anger toward Bingley pushes them apart. Can Bingley’s best efforts overcome poor odds or has Jane moved on for good?

Wickham remains on the loose, ready to take advantage of more women, but The League won’t let that continue. Darcy and Elizabeth are asked to deceive those around them for a good cause. It is one last opportunity for Darcy, but will it be enough? And what is The League of the Golden Daffodil...?

The Expanded Edition adds 4 additional short stories that continue the adventures of The League of the Golden Daffodil.

This is a sweet and clean, low angst Pride and Prejudice variation where all of the Bennet sisters have happy endings, with a satisfying epilogue.

Great read

This was a great read. I laughed out loud many times when Harry Frost is Lady Catherine :) absolutely brilliant. This book had a lot of added short stories which was on the same subject. Great Jaff.

Amazing and Unique Variation

This was a wonderful compilation of stories. It was a brilliant departure for Lady Catherine and Anne. The premise was great and I loved the Golden Daffodil twist. The Narration of Harry Frost was also brilliant.

A new favorite!

With the exception of one person, the regular characters were given kinder personalities! The narrator is always perfect and the author has been a favorite. I’ll be listening to this story again!

Justice, Lady Cat Style

For me, this variation leans more towards lighthearted than the subject matter would suggest. I mean, Wickham dying from gunshot wounds isn’t exactly funny, but the way he is outsmarted by Lady Catherine’s girl’s justice league had me cheering for them. I’ve read the book twice, but once again, Harry Frost breathes life into the characters and upgrades the written words into entertainment. I especially liked the way he transitions Anne’s voice from meek-as-a-mouse to Commanding Lady. Ditto for Lady Catherine acting the part of a looney drunk better than a Drury Lane pro. Priceless! It’s a very enjoyable listen! ⭐️

Very Entertaining

I am not a huge fan of Ms Kendig’s books but I always at least try them because when she is good, she is very good. I don’t mind the Christian themes but I generally find her books to be too sweet. This is definitely an ensemble cast, not a D&E love story. All the characters are fleshed out but without tedious detail - well done on the economy! There is one scene that is hilarious and while I really enjoyed it when I read the book, Mr Frost had me laughing until I cried. On that note, the narration was superb, I especially love how he voices Mr Collins. Highly recommend.

A surprising Lady C & Anne!

This story took me down a path I was not expecting. Partly because I didn’t bother reading the “about” part because any story by Laraba Kendig is always good. I got the audiobook narrated by Harry Frost to go with the ebook and as always Harry brings the story to life even more.

This story starts off in Kent with Darcy‘s disastrous proposal and within a short time Darcy and Col Fitzwilliam’s world and reality is turned upside down. A plan is formed to remove Wickham so he can no longer endanger young ladies. This plan includes Elizabeth and Darcy in a courtship, yep, right after his disastrous proposal and her refusal. Sit back and see how the plan evolves and what additional characters are brought in to make the plan successful. Because this is the expanded addition, we are able to get a few very short extra stories on other adventures. This was a fun but serious story and one I will gladly read or listen to again.

Main Story Good - Narrator Excellent

I mostly enjoyed the original GD story. I liked the premise and characterizations of Lady C and Anne. I swallowed the first 2, even 3, biblical references, after that i began to feel the author was preaching to her readers and I very much dislike that. I don’t listen to P&P variations as bible study sessions. I don’t know that I will risk another story from this author. Harry Frost was excellent as usual.

This is a fun ride

I LOVE LK's stories, they always take have an interesting twist, they always have strong intelligent female characters and they always stray slightly from canon, but are always recognizable as a P&P variation. Anne dB and Lady Catherine in this, they are everything! Lydia has a very successful and fitting storyline - it fits her character so well. ODC, they have a fun, enlightening journey with so much witty banter (my favorite thing in this genre!) and lots of growth. Wickham gets the treatment he deserves. And this book is so long, I love that becasue I never want the good ones to end. So this was high on my positive list.

Harryy Frost is a master at this genre, I love all of his character voices and he really brings a well written book to life. I loved this book, I highly reccomend this and all of LK's books. They are a joy to listen to (except a Fortuitous Fall - that needs a new recording. I get that she let he daughter read it, but for a paid for book it's really unprofessionally read unfortunately.)
