About this listen

The very worst has happened. Mr Bennet has died, leaving his wife and five young daughters bereft. The family estate, Longbourn, is now lost, entailed away and fifteen-year-old Elizabeth Bennet is to go two hundred miles away to live with strangers. George Darcy, repaying a debt of gratitude, has offered to take her to Pemberley, to live under the mantle of his care and be raised alongside his own daughter, Georgiana. But on the day she is to leave Longbourn forever, young Elizabeth, grieving and confused, runs off into the Hertfordshire countryside. Fitzwilliam Darcy gives chase, telling his father he will have her back in an hour or two. Luck and fate, however, are not on his side and capturing Elizabeth Bennet turns out not only to be more difficult than he could ever have imagined, but events conspire to turn her little adventure into his worst nightmare. The prideful man and the girl prejudiced against him, meet much earlier in this rethinking of Jane Austen’s masterpiece. Elizabeth grows up under the ever-watchful eye of Mr Darcy, from fifteen to twenty one. She errs and falters, there are stumbles and trips, but could this ‘disobedient little hellion’ one day become mistress of Pemberley and the keeper of his heart? Amazing story I’ve read it a few times. First time listening to it. Overall the AI voice is good. There’s a few times where the pronunciation is off or pauses or lack of pauses not quite right for the breaks in the story, but it’s defiantly listenable

Great story! One one of my favorites

Very long (really long) variation of a Forced Marriage between Darcy & Elizabeth when she is only fifteen. The author writes a very good, well-developed story, but I did not care for Darcy much until his “awakening.” But then there are an awful lot of variations in which Darcy needs a good whack to his head. Incredibly detailed but a very slow tale so not for those who want a lot of fast action or constant drama or similar. I enjoyed the story - despite Darcy - as much of a Regency young lady’s upbringing / limitations / education etc… was pictured in realistic terms. It is a shame this book wasn’t read by a good narrator like Stevie Z or Harry Frost or someone else as good, but for Virtual Voice, it isn’t so bad - better than most.

I really appreciated the different take the author had on this story. The ending was a bit abrupt,

Great Variation

Sometimes the AI voice doesn’t have the right inflection- but the story was worth a listen and good! Just enough angst and loved seeing Elizabeth grow through the years!

My favorite one of these variations

This was a good story, and would have been so much better with a good human narrator.

Good story despite virtual voice

Enjoyable story, but hated the virtual voice! Narration was very flat. An actual person would be much better!

Flat Narration!

Though very long, it’s well written. It moved right along and kept me interested. I’m going to listen to it again

This one is long but it’s well written

Extremely poor narration with computer generated voice results in run on sentences and difficulty determining what character is supposed to be talking. I am always amazed at audio books with poor narration since this aspect makes or brakes the experience.

Narration ruins story
