About this listen

There is only one way to be free of the curse. Etta Basile has to die.

The only other option is to give in to the magic that has held generations of her family tied to their greatest enemies.

And Etta refuses to die.

Thrust into a tournament to fight for her life, Etta knows something the royal family does not. If they have her killed, they too lose something they hold dear. Their beloved prince.

His life is tied to Etta's by a power they can't imagine. If she survives the tournament, she must protect him at all costs, despite his family's persecution of her people. But as she searches for a way to break the unbreakable magic, she realizes he is not the enemy she wants to believe.

The closer she gets to Prince Alexandre, the harder it is to remember who she truly is. A girl whose true identity must remain hidden. A girl with an illegal ability that can lead to her execution. A girl who has already lost everything there is to lose.

As the Basile curse throws everything into question, Etta must figure out the difference between love and magic. If there is one at all.

Good trilogy- annoying mfc at times but still good

Loved the story line and the history. Good tension but sometimes the main character Etta was annoyingly stubborn and rude. I mean they try to work it into the story but dang. Still entertaining and great narrator.

Good idea but…

I liked the idea of this trilogy, though some parts of “Etta’s” significance and how the special family magic got squirrelly at different times that never did quite make sense.
But it does get a bit tiresome at times, and it’s kind of rampant in this genre, well most books of this level right now, for the female MC to be always be the biggest baddass, the guy MC seldom gets the same respect by the author.
Past that, the whole thing took too long - I’m near the end but I don’t know if I can keep listening or not. I sorta got the jist of how it’s going to go- which I will say is not what I would have predicted early on, but it’s a satisfactory way to go.
Performance was fine.

Great story and narrator

The whole thing was captivating and the narrator was great. Her voice was a bit breathy in the beginning but then it got better.

Nice trilogy

Decent trilogy. I found Etta to be quite annoying at certain points. It took me a while to get into but i enjoyed it eventually. Found this gem through my recommendations. Story did drag a bit so I’m not quite sure if i want to read the next installment
