About this listen

As a Christian, how do you come to know Jesus? And how can this knowledge transform your life?

The four Gospels are foundational to Christianity. Yet Christian readers are often puzzled by the differences between the Gospels, preferring to harmonize the four into a single narrative. Now, this 24-part lecture course invites you to understand each Gospel's distinctive message.

Along the way, you will examine theories about how the three Synoptic Gospels are related. You will also learn why the evangelists are symbolized by four living creatures: the man or angel, the lion, the ox, and the eagle. As you will see, each Gospel offers a compelling depiction of Jesus. As you compare the four Gospels in detail, you will gain new insight into Jesus of Nazareth and the ways Christians have developed personal relationships with him through the ages.

This course is part of the Learn25 collection and includes a free PDF study guide.

Erudite, insightful and spiritually edifying

This course is a masterpiece. Prof. Ian Boxall clearly has a knack for combining scholarly insights with an engaging presentation. This is a comprehensive course covering each of the four gospels. By comparing each account of Jesus' life and ministry, Professor Boxall is able to illustrated multiple perspectives. I find his examples and points clear & well organized. Each lecture hangs together and supports the overall structure of the course. As a Catholic, I am grateful the Church has scholars like Prof. Boxall to help us learn more about scripture and our faith. You will learn a great deal from this course.

Well done synopsis of gospels

This is second book I’ve completed from this Author this month. I read NT Wright and other scholars but there is something about the delivery and amount of useful information is great. I can’t recommend enough if u want a greater understanding of the gospels. Hope he continues writing. I will read!

I liked that the author explained the different vantage points from the disciples, thus making them unique.

It was hard to listen to because of the regular throat clearing. The author repeated himself often.
