Publisher's summary

Everyone deserves to get away for a bit. Even the miscreants at St Mary's.

Astonishingly, Dr. Bairstow has declared a holiday. Even more astonishingly - he's paying for it. Needless to say, there are strings attached. They have to record the 1601 performance of Hamlet, with Shakespeare himself in the role of the Ghost. It doesn't go well, of course.

With Dr Bairstow and Mrs Mack turning a simple visit to a street market into a public brawl, Professor Rapson inadvertently stowing away on a vessel bound for the New World, and Shakespeare himself going up in flames, it would seem that Max, of all people, is the only one actually completing the assignment.

This is the best and funniest of all!!!!!

This was just TOO SHORT. Jodi Taylor is just such a terrific writer. Her humor is the best. Her seance of terror or destruction are always so spectacular, I can listen to these books over and over. Zara Ramm does such a great job of performing these books I can't imagine anyone else doing it. I just hope they keep on.

What a treat!!

My husband and I are big fans of the Chronicles if St. Mary’s series. We really like these “bonus” short stories because they fill in the gaps between the full books without giving anything important away plot wise between those books, and these adventures are always referred to in later books. This book was a real treat! All chaos, historical personages and fun add up to a rollicking good time - for the listener that is. Zara Ramm is the true voice of St. Mary’s, and her performance was excellent, as usual. But I will say that if you are only listening to these short stories because they are free or just a few bucks, you are missing out. For the most fun, do entire series in order.

Doesn't disappoint

As usual the adventures of the st Mary's team have you in stitches - what sets out to be just a day trip to watch hamlet of course goes pear shaped
Only bad thing - it was too short!

What's not to love about the St Mary's crew!

Would you listen to The Great St. Mary's Day Out again? Why?

Yes! I love these stories. Humor is written into the story seamlessly and always makes me wish that I was that witty, the characters reveal a little bit more around every turn, and I so enjoyed Dr Bristow being involved in the romp. I am not sure why, but it "read" better than the previous short book, so it was a wonderful "fix"..as I wait and hope for the next installment.

Short and sweet

Worth listening to this short and sweet story. Low stress too compared to some of the other stories.

Typical St. Mary's mayhem

I like these novellas, they're great for a commute. The combination of author and narrator is symbiotic; Taylor creates characters for Ramm to bring to life.
