About this listen

The year 2099. Riley Taylor has defeated the terrorist group the Champions and is now faced with a different sort of enemy: the State.

Trouble is, there isn’t one single person to blame for the way life in America is now, and instead of confronting a foe, she must root out the evil in the system piece by piece, law by insidious law. To do this, Riley will need the help of the Volunteers. But rebuilding her crew from scratch will not be an easy task, and taking on the government will require a team of specialized allies.

Will she be able to help free her followers from oppression? Or will the risk to her life be too great for her to survive the attempt?

The series was very good, fast moving and suspenseful. I liked the story line and the narrator/reader did a fabulous job. I appreciate that the series was written with out bad language and sex scenes. Thank you.

Just completed the lens series

The Lens series is a great listen for young adults, and older adults may enjoy it as well. Lots of twist and turns keep you coming back for more.

Even though it was a great ending to the series, book five was a tough one to get through. The incessant self talk and drug out plot was a little brutal.
I do love the happier ending and I have enjoyed the truthfulness and realistic storyline of the series. Thank you for the great engrossing story

Great ending

I just finished the lens series and am happy with how the series ended. That being said, the first two books have a totally different feeling from the last three books. It almost feels like there was two different authors for the first and second halves of the series.

For this book in particular, I often felt really confused by the choice of events and decisions in the story. I thought Riley was supposed to be a great strategist and smart but oftentimes she made rookie and stupid mistakes/decisions. It totally didn’t feel consistent to the first two books. Further, everyone thought she was a selfless person but she really wasn’t. She was a normal person which is totally fine (and more realistic) but everyone went as far to say that she always fought for others. In the end, yes she did but that wasn’t the only thing driving her. She wanted power and to be the hero. That felt super hypocritical to me and made me dislike the writing just a bit. If Riley is going to be like this just directly acknowledge it and don’t put her on a pedestal.

Good ending but questionable story development

This was a great ending to a fantastic story albeit a little rushed toward the end. Each character is distinct and memorable and I found myself binge listening for hours at a time. Emily Woo Zeller makes for magnificent narrator and I'm now looking fir more books with which she is able to use her remarkable talents.

I hate to see the adventure is over
