About this listen

Lives are transformed...one stitch at a time.

As Amish widow Emma Yoder contemplates the task ahead, her thoughts center on one: What if she fails? Longing to remove a burden from her family by becoming self-sufficient, Emma has offered to hold quilting classes in her home. But when she sees the patchwork of faces assembled for the first lesson, her confidence dwindles as doubt threatens to take hold. There’s Star Stephens, a young woman yearning for stability; Pam and Stuart Johnston, a struggling couple at odds in their marriage; Paul Ramirez, a widowed father hoping to find solace in finishing a quilt; Jan Sweet, a rough and tough biker looking for something creative to do; and Ruby Lee Williams, a preacher’s wife seeking relaxation amid mounting parish problems.

While Emma grows to realize her ability to share her passion for quilting and her faith, the beginning quilters learn to transform scraps of fabric into beauty. And slowly, their fragmented lives begin to take new shape - some in unexpected ways - with the helping hands of each other and the healing hand of God.

Quilting

Loved all the characters and their inner action. Emma and her faith in God made the story.

Nice little story.

Quick read. Has seven stories going simultaneously. A couple of them are not realistic. Not one of my favorite books.

charming story, not the right narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club to be better than the print version?

Havent read it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course, Jan, and all his mystery.

What three words best describe Renee Ertl’s voice?

She did great at reading when it was just the story itself, but reading of the voices came across very Trite and unbelievable.

Good story

I did get tired of the one couples bickering. I almost quite listening because of this but so glad I finished.

Birds of a feather did not flock together.

What made the experience of listening to The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club the most enjoyable?

It was such a mix of personalities and I felt like I was friends with them all by the time I finessed the book.

What other book might you compare The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club to and why?

Jan Karon - Mitford Series ..... wholesome

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I really didn't have extreme reaction to this book, but I did thoroughly enjoy every moment.

Any additional comments?

The character Jan, the biker dude, help me think differently about what I have previously thought about heavily tattooed men who ride motorcycles. Now when I see one, I stop and wonder if he is just as endearing as Jan. I find myself not making such wide circles around them and locking my car doors when I see one. LOL I know I am a mess.

Good listen

My new job is a longer commute and since I love quilting, I thought this would be a good candidate. Slow to start but the character development and the entertwined stories kept me engaged. Would have liked a bit more quilting demo.
