About this listen

From best-selling author Leddy Harper comes a sizzling romance about an aspiring young chef who may discover that the perfect recipe for love involves all accidental ingredients....

Tatum Alexander is so close to realizing her dream of becoming a sous chef she can taste it, but working at her ex-fiancé’s restaurant with his new girlfriend was never in her career plan. To save face and prove she’s moved on, Tatum cooks up a lie that she’s in a relationship with her best friend’s superhot cousin. There’s just one problem: Jason only recently moved to town, and he has no idea they’re already “dating.”

Jason’s a recovering ladies’ man who shouldn’t be on the menu, but that doesn’t mean he’s immune to Tatum’s quirky charm. Giving her lie a kernel of truth, they decide some no-strings-attached fun between the sheets can’t hurt. But as Tatum’s forced to keep making up stories to cover her original fib, she has a hard time separating what’s real and what’s fake - including her feelings for Jason.

With too many tales spun, Tatum can only watch in horror as her collection of yarns begins to unravel, leaving everyone she cares about feeling betrayed. After so many lies, will it be too late to set the record straight? And more importantly, will she be able to convince Jason there’s truth in their love?

when lies beget more lies...

6 mos ago, Sous chef, Tatum, was happy...she was engaged to the love of her life, had a great job and was celebrating her 25th birthday. Then her fiancé broke off their engagement, on her birthday no less, just before her family’s arrival! Now she’s trying to move on while dealing with her ex fiancé’s new gf...who’s working at the same restaurant...btw, the ex is also the owner of the restaurant. Then she makes up a relationship with her bf cousin...and the lies start spiraling out of control!
Jason, cousin of Tatum's best friend and roommate, has just moved back home to be close to his widowed mother. He’s also getting over a 5yr relationship and has a rule about no 2nd chances. Jason is attracted to Tatum and the pair enter into a secret fling. When Tatum’s lies spiral out of control and are exposed, will Jason forgive her and break his rule of no 2nd chances? Good story, just had to get past some of Tatum’s sophomoric antics.

4.5 LITTLE WHITE LIE

I love Leddy Harper's writing. She engages her readers in a way that makes time seem like a non-issue. You get entranced in the story that the world around you is put on pause. I enjoyed that the heroine was a bit clumsy and quirky. She wasn't your typical heroine and that made me enjoy it so much more. The narration made the H/h come to life and Kendall Taylor and Brian Pallino did a fantastic job. I would definitely recommend this to romance lovers that enjoys a nice HEA.

Just read the story yourself!

Story was good, female voice was a tad annoying. At times her voice was really whiny and childish yet other times her voice sounded too old for the character.

Loved this

I absolutely loved this story. My face hurts from laughing. Tatum's character is so awkward and quirky and Jason is just the right person for her. I loved the sense of humor in this story. Jason's character could find the humor in life situations that a lot of people don't possess, plus he sounds totally sexy. Thumbs up to the author and the narrator's. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loved this !!

This was a fun read. The romance was delightful and disastrously funny at times. Tatum just makes the worst decisions that puts her in the most ridiculous situations.
Love the book, love Leddy Harper, love the narrators!!!

feels like the girl next door romance

There was an area where it felt as if I had read that plot where the best friend was against it all that felt done before, but once I got over that the rest fell into a funny story line.

This was a good listen I was laughing at the antics and loved the way the romance bloomed for this couple after misunderstandings get cleared up there is a HEA in the end.

Not my favorite…

I love a good romcom, and the premise of the story sounded like it would be fun! But the truth is when I started reading this story I just kept waiting for something to happen that would make me like the protagonist, and it never did. I can set aside the fact that it’s incredibly clichéd, and that the descriptions of things are always wildly over exaggerated, but it’s hard to set aside the fact that the main character is just so unlikable. She lies more than she tells the truth, and in completely idiotic ways too. In the end, I did power through and finish the story. The story itself isn’t the worst one in the world I can kind of get on board with it, it’s just the main character and the descriptions of things that are so hard to get past. Wish I could return this one.
