About this listen

From New York Times best sellers Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland comes a sexy new standalone novel.

He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska. A sexy, cocky Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive. When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually tense nights in hotels, and taking unplanned detours. My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime.

It was all fun and games until things got intense. I wanted him, but Chance wouldn't make a move. I thought he wanted me, too, but something was holding him back. I wasn't supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we'd be going our separate ways. All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

Author's note: Cocky Bastard is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this audiobook is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

LOVE HIM LOVE HIM LOVE HIM LOVE HIM LOVE HIM!!!

What did you love best about Cocky Bastard?

All of it....I loved all of this book!!!

What did you like best about this story?

That Chance never gave up...he was shot down several times and just kept going...He is an awesome guy!!!!

Which character – as performed by Michelle Ferguson and Aaron Abano – was your favorite?

Aubrey and Chance of course....they were great!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This would be a fabulous Rom/Com!!!

Any additional comments?

Chance and Aubrey meet quite by chance...and after he changes her tire and buys her a bauble head...She agrees to give him a ride to California since his bike was broke down. Aubrey is very reserved...and Chance has a filthy mouth and is drop dead gorgeous....she tries to not fall for him, but she did! They go the long way about it...and sometimes life gets in the way.....but True Love always finds away...and how can you resist a Stalker and Cocky Bastard!!! Loved Esmeralda Snowflake too!!!

GREAT STORY!!!! GREAT NARRATION!!!! I RECOMMEND!!!!!!

first half thumbs up... 2nd... no way

Well... first it was a cute story. Than when the male narration came on, I felt like it was an old man trying to be a young man. I just could not listen to the whole thing

COCKY IS RIGHT!!

I really really enjoyed this book, so I have to explain my incredibly low ratings. Like other reviewers mentioned, the male narrator RUINED everything that was so incredible about this story. I'd much rather the female narrator speak for the whole book, it would've been a strong 4.5 rating for sure. I love Ward/Keeland books so I was deflated when the latter part of the story was told from Cocky's viewpoint. Ok, negative review complete, let's move on to what was so fantastic---literally everything else. The Cocky Bastard was hilarious from start to finish, and add in a pet goat--I was in love. Aubrey and Cocky fall hard for each other pretty quickly, but a life changing decision threatens everything that the two thought they had together. I've never seen a book boyfriend work so hard at getting the girl and redeeming himself. It's something to witness, and totally swoon-worthy.

If you are new to the Ward/Keeland duo, you have been missing out. These two know how to write a great romance that is equal parts hot and hilarious. I'd still recommend this book despite the narration, because its just that good, but, buyer beware, and listen at your own risk.

Great story telling

Loved how the had individual POV's. Hers for the first part of the book and his for the second. Made the book come to life and connected the story beautifully. Props to Aaron Abano and his part of this audiobook. There were so many parts where he made me laugh out loud. Especially when he would scream princess **cker lol it was really funny. But he also made you feel all of the emotions he was going through. Made me connect to the story as a whole. Would highly recommend.

Great listen

I completely enjoyed this audiobook. The narrators brought the story to life. I love happy endings and this audiobook didn't disappoint me. Such an unconventional story that was worth my credit and more. Thank you audible for an uplifting easy listen.

Great book!

I love this book but the guy made it a bad experience. He was horrible for Chance. I loved the girl narrator. I wished she would have read the whole book.

Sometimes the journey is long and winding

I have wanted to read this for a while now. Definitely worth the wait. I love Aubrey! She is strong and spunky, despite some insecurities. Chance is far from what ya might expect for someone who ends up nicknamed the cocky bastard. Loved it!!

Great Beginning ...

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The female narrator did a great job during the first half, but once the male narrator took over I couldn't get into the book anymore. The male narrators voice was good, but he just didn't seem like a good fit for the book. I wish the female narrator read the entire book.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first part of the book, it was an nice romantic comedy audio. Once part two started I just didn't like it as much. I am not sure if I would have given more stars if I just read the last half of the book instead of listened to it or if the story itself wasn't as strong in the second half.

Good story, bad narration

This feels like two different stories into one and the experience on each part is completely different. The first half of the book is a fun and romantic road trip with lots of sexual tension and wonderful narration by Michelle Ferguson. The first part is in the POV of our heroine and I loved it.
However, the section nd half of the book is so different. It’s unbelievable. The narration by Mr. Aaron Abano is terrible. Up to that point the hero in my mind was an Australian hunk ala Liam Hemsworth. When Mr. Abano started narrating the hero turned into a strange older man more like Mel Gibson. Let’s just say the change was not good. The bad narration paired with a too unrealistic turn of events is just not good. SPOILER ALERT: our hero disappears because he has to do 2 years of jail for beating a drug dealer (really? ). Then he comes back and grovels and fights for her love for Half the book. Come one, the groveling was over the top. And we’re supposed to believe that this smart beautiful lawyer will leave everything and move in in a happily ever after with an unemployed ex-con?!?! I didn’t buy the story, did not feel real at all.

Abosolutely Loved It

This was the first book I have read and listened too by these two authors and it won't be the last.
Aubrey has packed up all her worldly percessions into her Black BMW and is heading to California. At a rest stop she runs into Chance a sexy Australian who comes to her rescue after a incident with a Obama Bobble Head Doll. Aubrey is all set to head off when she spots the handsome Aussie having problems with his Harley.
Chance convinces Aubrey to give him a lift and this is where the fun really begins..........
Chance has no filter on his mouth and the banter between these two will have you laughing out loud add into the equation a blind fainting goat (yes you read that right) and you will end up like me laughing till you cry .
Aubrey and Chance end up in Vegas for a few days and both end up doing things they never dreamed of doing.
I really don't want to give to much of the story away but Cocky Bastard has it all, Romance, Humor and Second Chance Love.
Aubrey and Chance have a chemistry that is hard to describe except to say this book has left me wanting more from them.
I wll certainly be looking for more from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland
