Publisher's summary

Queenstown, County Cork. 1920

For twenty-year-old Harp Devereaux, life should be idyllic. At university, she feels for the first time in her life that she belongs, her mother Rose is running the Cliff House as a successful business, and her childhood sweetheart JohnJoe is by her side, but the storm clouds of war grow ever darker.

For eight hundred years Ireland has made numerous bids for her freedom but now, at last, liberation from British rule is tantalisingly close, if the men and women of the revolution can just hold on.

Harp, her family, and her friends find themselves in the thick of the fight, but the Crown Forces are not the only enemy. A sinister force from the past is lurking and will stop at nothing to exact his revenge.

The Harp and the Rose is the third book in the Queenstown Series.

Spellbinding

Interesting characters get you involved in the turmoils in Ireland during the early 20th Century. History books gloss over most history but this series brings history alive. I google to find the facts related to historical events. Siobhan’s narration, voices and accents are mesmerizing.

Lovely and Fascinating

I truly love this series, but as with many of Grainger’s otter books this one seems like it needs an editor to help pare down redundant, meandering passages. We’re I reading a hardcopy I would have skimmed those bits, but since I was listening I just sped up the narration to get to the good stuff.

Character development

The characters are well described Nd the author keeps things clear when going from one character interaction to a different one. Some receptiveness in the chapters to help set the scene which could have been left out. Enjoy the reader’s dialect and tone while reading the story. Looking forward to listening to the final book in the series.

Suspenseful

Book 3 was filled with suspense, romance, and history. I love the characters and despise the one villain who continues to find his way back. I hope in your book 4, he gets his comeuppance.
