About this listen

James, a bright young boy with a sparkle in his eye, wanted to spend a night at the old yellow house on Millard Road to prove a legend wasn’t true.

People say that in the early 1800s, a man who collected many rare treasures and strange artifacts went missing with his wife, but no one knows how. It is said that the spirit of the man still haunts the house to this day. Children in the area hear strange sounds when there’s a full moon.

A long time ago, the town’s kids made a bet to spend the night at the haunted house. When the moon was full, they had to do it. They were supposed to take a picture of the ghost, find one of the missing items, and get out of the house before sunrise.

James didn’t believe in ghosts and wanted to prove to everyone he was right. Did James make a mistake by accepting the challenge when he didn’t believe the legend?

One Night Puzzle

On a dare, five children spend the night in a house considered haunted. Clean fun, geared toward those in middle school. They become locked in and must solve a puzzle to escape. I was gifted this from the author.

Ghost Story & A Mystery

I enjoyed this charming, haunted house story. James and a few of his friends decided to spend the night in the yellow house on Millard Road in spite of the rumor that the house was haunted. It was written for a younger audience, but I was entertained by the story. I appreciated the interior of the house descriptions. I liked the characters and their interactions as it was reminiscent of being around my niece and nephews. I liked the mystery that was included. Christian J. Gilliland's and Dansare Marks' narrations were entertaining and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Great story

I really enjoyed the story itself but the performance was not totally good. The narrator with deep voice was great. I wish he read the whole thing. The second narrator sounded whiny like Ashe from the Pokémon cartoons. It distracted from the story. Overall a good book and definitely worth a listen.

Fun scary story for kids

This was an adventurous story of a bunch of friends who decide to spend the night in a haunted house. Overall I enjoyed this little story, it was more developed than expected!
The narration was a little annoying when the kids voices were yelling as I listen at 1.5-1.75 speed. So unfortunately it can be ear splitting. I'm going to assume a younger child would listen at normal speed and wouldn't find the voices abnormal.
Fun for Halloween if your kiddos like scary books.
