About this listen

Otto and Sheed are the local sleuths in their zany Virginia town, masters of unraveling mischief using their unmatched powers of deduction. And as the summer winds down and the first day of school looms, the boys are craving just a little bit more time for fun, even as they bicker over what kind of fun they want to have.

That is, until a mysterious man appears with a camera that literally freezes time. Now, with the help of some very strange people and even stranger creatures, Otto and Sheed will have to put aside their differences to save their town - and each other - before time stops for good.

My kids loved it and so did I. Twists and turns in the plot with great messages.

Fantastic book

I initially purchased this audible for my sons to listen to while riding in the car but I was actually tuned in myself ! It was such a good, interesting read ! I’d definitely pay to see this if it were made into a movie.

Amazing

Great narration of a fantastic, time stopping, confidence building adventure. Time is valuable, not money.

A lively fantastical drama

This is a great book for late elementary, middle, high school students and adults like me. The story provides lots of imagery, scientific discovery, fantasy, and realistic fiction. And the Virginia roots detailed in the book makes the story even more interesting. My only criticism would be that I was more interested than my daughters to finish the story. I became hooked! Lamar Giles created a great book about 2 familiar African American boys and their wish to extend their summer break. Their wish set about a chain reaction that literally turned their small Virginia town upside down and time warped. This book made me think of classics such as, Alive in Wonderland, The Wiz and Back to the Future. I would love to see this book as a motion picture, or maybe even a series of motion pictures. The adventures of Legendary Alston boys (Otto and Sheed) would be a groundbreaking and long overdue. I would highly recommend this audiobook and paperback version. Much Respect Lamar Giles.

Make this book into a movie!

Where was the director on this one? The narrator was good with dialogue and characters but with the general narrative he sounded like he was reading each line for the first time, not understanding the sentence structure. I doubt he had read the book in advance before he performed it.

Good story but narrator was disappointing
