About this listen

The only thing more dangerous than his sword is the flame-haired enemy who's stolen his heart . . . in this gripping Highland romance from USA Today bestselling author Heather McCollum.

Fearsome Highland warrior Rory MacLeod has sacrificed for his clan. But taken as prisoner—in place of his older brother, who's meant to be laird—is more than any man should bear. So when the chance for escape presents itself, Rory risks everything for freedom. But instead of returning to the welcoming warmth of home, Rory steps into a blazing trap . . .

Despite her betrothal to their laird, Lady Sara Macdonald has no love for the MacLeod clan. But when her treacherous father locks the entire MacLeod wedding party into the church and sets fire to it, she cannot stand by and watch the slaughter. Saving them means turning traitor to her clan and becoming an enemy to her own blood . . . left to the mercy of her greatest enemy.

Now her intended husband lies somewhere between life and death, and Sara's only ally is his younger brother: the fierce MacLeod warrior she's forbidden to want. And as hunger blazes to life between Rory and Sara—unbidden, untamed, and hotter than the fires of Beltane—they quickly find themselves caught between honor and a love that will turn blood against blood.

Contains mature themes.

it was a great story just a little to descriptive during the intimate parts. Loved the story over all.

The strength of the leading Lady

Having the two narrators, male and female was nice... and they both did a great job. The story line was good as well with a bit of history at each chapter, a nice touch... I had my guesses to who the "bad guy" was but I was hopping from one character to another with guesses. Can't wait for the next one

I loved this book

This is one of Heather’s best books. The story line is superbly crafted, and the layers and twists are exciting without feeling contrived. Double readers bring the story to life really well. The steamy scenes…well, Heather has a knack for creating beautiful builds to intimacy without rushing or seeming over the top. She is a fantastic author, and now I need to go out and find the paper back version to cuddle up with and start this adventure all over again.

Grabs Your Heart!

I must say that I enjoyed the book. It was not one of those stories that had drama that went on forever, seemingly for the sake of drama. It was well written and the storyline kept a decent pace throughout.

A pleasure to read

Once again Heather MacCullom builds believable characters and a well developed plot filled with twists turns and drama bringing lovers together in a delightful satisfying conclusion.

Beautiful balance of factually based fiction and intense believable steamy romance.

I loved the Narrators-So fresh not to have the same old Timothy Campbell (who I just don’t like his woman voice) narrator. Story was good-far fetched sometimes but still enjoyable and quotes at the beginning of each chapter are so interesting to me. Loved this. Finally new stuff

Fabulous!!

Details defined nicely in context with storyline heightens understanding of the content smoothly without disruption.

I liked the way the author makes the characters come alive. Also, the narrators were very good. I can't wait for the other books to come out. Nothing like ending with a cliffhanger.

the historical accounts and the references to books and the authors.
