Publisher's summary

A riveting tale of love and self-discovery set between the future and the past....

2115 Post-C: Humanity has been saved from the brink of extinction by Centurions. Extraterrestrial overlords impose androgyny and control reproduction through strict methods. AI world government, constant monitoring, and the ability to manipulate time are the results of advanced alien technology.

Nina Clifford, college senior and passionate historian, commits the serious crime of disobedience and is condemned to be an experimental subject for Earth’s first time machine. Minutes before tele-transporting, she learns a terrifying secret.

In Gothic France, she meets a broken nobleman who evokes strange yet wonderful feelings. After discovering her humanity and sexuality in the medieval world, Nina is compelled to question everything she has ever been taught since her test-tube birth. Now, she must make a difficult decision about her future.

The Historian delves into the psychological power of indoctrination, and the rebellious yet glorious act of mental and emotional liberation.

satisfying historical time travel romance

Excellent narration brings this journey to medieval France to life as the protagonist flees her alien overlords. Believe it or not it is believable and entrancing. Love blooms as she embraces womanhood and the normal human life that she was raised to believe was not her destiny.
Well done!

Great Book

I enjoyed listening to this book. Jennifer Pickens was fabulous in her narration. I loved the historical references of people, places and the events of that time period. The characters were well developed. I highly recommend this audiobook!

Creative and fun

Very creative! It is an enjoyable read with many twists. There were a few plot holes, a few things that were too convenient and it was a little soapier than I thought, but but I definitely enjoyed the book and the performance. I would recommend this book as more of a romance than a science fiction or time travel novel.

The Historian

This was a really good story! I enjoyed the past much more than the future.Nina is a student who questions her overlords authority and has to pay the consequences. Jennifer Pickens was a terrific narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Really enjoyed this story

I wasn't sure what to expect was really loved the story and the narration. Really unique plot line rather than just another twist on the usual time travel romance tale...which is why I really liked it. It moved right along and didn't drag. Narrator did a great job as well. Would definitely recommend!

Timely read with our current climate crisis.

I enjoyed this very much. It took a bit to get really involved but I got wrapped up in the characters. I liked the narration although I enjoy narrators that do character voices more. She was still very good.

Compelling and captivating

I absolutely loved to this story. It is a well blend of imaginative futuristic cultural and societal changes with accompanying first contact problems, and time travel with historical detail and accuracy. All woven together into a graphic and sometimes carnal love story of pain, sacrifice and romance. The story is truly compelling and captivating chapter by chapter until the end.

A love story poorly disguised as scifi

I would have certainly respected the book more and might have liked it better had I been told the truth about its genre. There was almost zero tech and there was zero explanation of any of the science in the story. Scifi is obviously a gimmick to this author. Stick to romance novels.
