About this listen

Five hundred years in the future, earth is no longer populated by humans.

The new guardians of Earth, the genetically engineered Erta, have reversed climate change. They are now faced with a dilemma; if they reintroduce the rebellious and violent Homo sapiens, all of their work will be undone.

They decide to raise one final child, a sole human to help decide if humanity should again inherit the Earth.

But the quiet and clinical Ima finds that there is more to raising a human than she had expected and that there is more to humanity's history than she has been told.

The audio version was enchanting, extremely well done! Thought provoking, spiritual, human and truthful all at the same time...

Captivating!

I smiled and cried - was furious and delighted. After listening to The Last Dog on Earth, I didn’t think I would find so unique an experience with the same author, but I was wrong. Mr. Walker is so imaginative and has the writing chops to bring his imagination to life. Ms. O’Donnell is a the perfect narrator for this book. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.

What a tale!

Even superior beings created to right humanity’s wrongs fall prey to some of humanity’s strengths and weaknesses. I enjoyed this story and I was surprised by the ending.

LISTEN TO THIS BOOK. I don't know about you but as an avid reader it is a often that I read and/or listen to books that I simply cannot put down until they are finished. Even so, It is rare to find a book this special. I didn't want it to end. I cried just for the simple fact that this story was done.

Wow, just wow

This was a well thought out, well written book that I very much enjoyed. The reader did a great job with inflection and characterization even when she stretched the limits of her vocal cords. Not to be discounted is that she properly pronounced the words, which makes it easier to follow the story. Loved this book!

Great read

Almost as good as Last Dog on Earth but that's gonna be hard to beat. I loved the narrator too (but, again, alas, hard to beat Len's cockney accent) but close, really close. Enjoyed the whole book. Touching and thoughtful from the outside of humanity looking in. I rarely give a 4 and almost never a 5, so this is really high marks.

ALMOST as good as Last Dog

Not your typical dystopian bit of sci-fi. Imagining the future with only one remaining human accompanied by engineered beings who healed the Earth, the story is wonderfully written and narrated as an examination of the uniqueness of humanity’s consciousness, flaws and all.

Hopeful and heartfelt

I listened to "The Last Dog on Earth" first, and moved on to this book. Both were really great, captivating stories. Emotions, thoughts provoked. Recommend both stories!
