About this listen

"Davies captures the magic of Dennard's exciting world and illuminates each character"—AudioFile on The Luminaries

The Hunting Moon is the highly anticipated sequel to The Luminaries by New York Times bestselling author Susan Dennard.

Winnie Wednesday has gotten everything she thought she wanted. She passed the deadly hunter trials, her family has been welcomed back into the Luminaries, and overnight, she has become a local celebrity.

The Girl Who Jumped. The Girl Who Got Bitten.

Unfortunately, it all feels wrong. For one, nobody will believe her about the new nightmare called the Whisperer that's killing hunters each night. Everyone blames the werewolf, even though Winnie is certain the wolf is innocent.

On top of that, following her dad's convoluted clues about the Dianas, their magic, and what happened in Hemlock Falls four years ago is leaving her with more questions than answers.

Then to complicate it all, there is still only one person who can help her: Jay Friday, the boy with plenty of problems all his own.

As bodies and secrets pile up around town, Winnie finds herself questioning what it means to be a true Wednesday and a true Luminary—and also where her fierce-hearted loyalties might ultimately have to lie.

"Help my Dad?" "Protect my family?" "Do this because this is what you are expected to do." "Oh there's this boy."

First let me start off by saying that I reread the first book so much I could probably tell you word for word the whole conversation between characters if you were to open random places in it. Having this weapon while reading this because it felt like I could feel Winnie's thoughts & as if they were mine.

Watch out other writers in all the other categories especially this one. Susan Dennard is will soon be taking your over category & away from yor title before you can blink your eyes & take your next breath. She gives her reader just enough to take a blow unseen coming, but so powerful that her reads can say " Oh yeah! I would have felt the same way & totally understand why she felt/chose to do *insert situation*. She will have you saying " I need a Whinnie Winona Wednesday in my life
This book. This series. This writer. This narrator. Is only a MUST have in your library, your book collection! (because we all know you have on so don't deny it), & in your life.

Character Development

The story is really good with some great twists and turns and lots of character development!
It took me a little bit to get used to the narrator but then I was hooked!

Winnie really grew into herself in this book to such a bear but not in her clan way. I really have loved her development

That I was actually proved wrong about Jay! I thought he was something else entirely!

Winnie is so relatable

Love the main character, Winnie Wednesday. She is flawed and relatable and funny, too. Also Jay! Swoon!!

The Girl Who Lives

Jumping from the falls and bitten by a werewolf, Winnie Wednesday is like a cat with nine lives. Or does the dark creatures in the forest aid her when needed? The latter seems to be the case. Book 2 in this trilogy uncovers more about the whispers that it seems she is the only one to hear and as she gets closer to finding out who set her father up, she and Jay run into more issues that they must work together to resolve.
