Publisher's summary

In the tradition of The Girl on the Train comes the UK best seller The Ice Twins, a terrifying psychological thriller with a twisting plot worthy of Gillian Flynn.

One of Sarah's daughters died. But can she be sure which one?

A year after one of their identical twin daughters Lydia dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcroft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives.

But when their surviving daughter Kirstie claims they have mistaken her identity - that she, in fact, is Lydia - their world comes crashing down once again.

As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed. When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, they are forced to confront what really happened on that fateful day.

Kept wondering how it would end

Great story. There were many ways it could have turned out. Different than the usual murder mysteries. Glad I bought the book

Wonderful

This story captivated me from the very beginning. We are never really sure, until the very end exactly what is going on. the descriptions of the Hebrides in winter will chill you on a hot summer day.

Great story

The story is really good! I kept finding chores to do so that I could keep listening to the book without a lot of guilt. The writing itself is excellent and I will be looking for other books by "Tremayne".

The narrators are exceptional, particularly Penny Rawlins. Her interpretations of the twin girls was so lovely and endearing I found I was hoping for more dialogue from the twins. The only negative comment I have is that the sound quality was a bit poor. Of course that is not a reflection on the book itself nor on the author & narrators. There is a lot of fuzz in the background of the audio which was distracting enough for me that I had to rewind several times. That type of noise is not usually heard in audiobooks.

Interesting Story--Too Much Rumination

This book really only becomes chilling at the very end. Otherwise, it's a story about miscommunication that makes the reader want to shriek to the protagonists, "Just say what you mean!" None of the main characters is especially sypathetic except the dog.
The pace can be maddeningly glacial, largely because the central character spends an enormous amount of time paraphrasing her thoughts.
The narration is good.

Always too many questions

This author has a style of writing where her characters are always among themselves questions. It is annoying and to me a weak technique by the author. Don't think I will read another of her books. I also get very annoyed with her characters.

This could have been great .. but so slow

A good story was spoiled by being so slow. Good narration saved it to a certain extent. Unlike some reviewers I did find a sympathetic character - I will not say who or why as it may spoil the book for another reader, let's just say that the author did a much better job creating male characters as nearly all the females were not the people I would want to sit down with a glass of wine with. As for the reactions of the school in Skye - implausible to say the least!

Gripping and Chilling.

I could not stop listening to this book. The mystery was so compelling I had to continue though all of the twists and turns to the end. My book club had a ton to talk about pertaining to the outcome of this story. There was a lot of opinions and discussions about this book. The author really knows how describe the untouchable pain of losing a child.

Pleasantly surprising

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to friends that enjoy dramas and a bit of mystery. There are many questions to be answered in this story and they are revealed layer by layer. This is not so much a mystery or thriller as it is a drama with some mystery and supernatural thrown in. It is well written and held my interest.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the psychological aspects of Lydia and Kirsty's bond as twins. I also like that I didn't figure out exactly what happened until the end.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

Having several narrators giving the character their own voices was a great way to present this book. It gives the characters more personality and depth in my opinion.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Would YOU know one twin from the other?

Any additional comments?

I found this book to be entertaining and worth the credit. If you are looking for a thriller that leans toward horror, then this may not be for you. If you want a book that is a great listen with drama and mystery, then I recommend Ice Twins.

Creepy and suspenseful..

I liked this book. The performance of the little girl's voices are perfect. Adds to the creepiness of the story. It's a little sad in some parts but it's a good book. I recommend it.

Very original story

I really liked the plot and idea of this story. The main character, Sarah, was irritating at times. However, I always felt an empathy towards her. I didn't anticipate the ending at all
