About this listen

Will the love of God save us all? In this audiobook Thomas Talbott seeks to expose the extent to which the Western theological tradition has managed to twist the New Testament message of love, forgiveness, and hope into a message of fear and guilt.

According to the New Testament proclamation, he argues, God's love is both unconditional in its nature and unlimited in its scope; hence no one need fear, for example, that God's love might suddenly turn into loveless hatred at the moment of one's physical death. For God's love remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. But neither should one ignore the New Testament theme of divine judgment, which Talbott thinks the Western theological tradition has misunderstood entirely. He argues in particular that certain patterns of fallacious reasoning, which crop up repeatedly in the works of various theologians and Bible scholars, have prevented many from appreciating St. Paul's explicit teaching that God is merciful to all in the end.

This second edition of Talbott's classic work is fully revised, updated, and substantially expanded with new material.

Excellent! Where has this been all my life?!

I've been an Open Theist since first reading Greg Boyd's 'God of the Possible' back in 2012. I came to hold to Universal Reconciliation after reading Thomas Allin's 'Christ Triumphant' in 2014. In 'The Inescapable Love of God', Thomas Talbott has brought so much illumination to how UR is philosophically compatible with free will theism and has helped me to better imagine even a greater theodicy. What a great book! This is a game changer for me!

The Good News Is Finally Good

I have long intuitively held these ideas to be the only possible truth, but have lacked the theological depth to explain them—even to myself. This book marks a turning point in my faith and in the unqualified joy with which I can proclaim the gospel.

Refreshing!

Seeing God as supreme love that will eventually, in the age to come, bring all people that ever existed on this earth to a place of reconciliation with Himself as well as with each other is so refreshing after being taught and believing for so many years that a very large majority of people would be cast into everlasting torment or possibly annihilated. If you believe, as I did, that that the bible clearly teaches that most people who ever existed will experience never ending torment or annihilation, this book is a must read or listen to for you. We have been duped. Thomas Talbot has written about the true “old time religion” dating back to the beginning of the body of believers in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God who said, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.”

Best Christian Universal Restoration Book Out Ther

I doubt you'll find better arguments for Universal Restoration or against Eternal Hell than Thomas Talbot lays out in this book. He utterly destroys the doctrines of Eternal Conscious Torment (ETC) and Annihilationism by showing how the necessarily make the Bible and God's nature, contradict themselves...then shows how Universal Restoration resolves those contradictions bringing harmony across the entire canon of scripture. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent!

Talbott doesn’t just discuss heaven and hell. This is a comprehensive examination of God’s nature and the human experience. Talbott examines scriptures, church history, philosophy, logic, and experience to make his case. He leaves no stone unturned. Very well reasoned and written, and narrated. Highly recommended, even if you don’t agree with his conclusions.

A great insight into a controversial topic

As a religious leader, the question of what happens after death is a common question I must tackle. Here Talbott lays out what I consider to be the best arguments for a universalist perspective of Christianity. The book is a great listen and full of great insights. Whether you agree or not, I strongly recommend becoming familiar with the arguments presented.

Good news!

Good news: The same God that sits above us on the Throne, is the same God that is everywhere, and he was manifested in the flesh! His name is Jesus and he died for the sins of all so that God may be all in all! We are being made in the image of Jesus! Who (❤Jesus) shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue ALL things unto himself. (Philippians 3:21) Thus, all shall fulfill the first and great commandment! For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Colossians 1:19-20 All things means all things!!! One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:6 The one who speaks the end from the beginning saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.😇
