About this listen

Some things weren't meant to be discovered....

Flynn's work as an arachnologist is interrupted by a teenager insisting he has stumbled across a new species. Having given in to the teen's hounding, Flynn realizes he might be onto something.

So, he treks into the mountains, his wife, Steph, and their faithful German shepherd, Solomon, in tow for a weekend of spider-hunting and tourism.

Instead, what Flynn uncovers rips their world apart.

The Isaac Spiders is the first of the Portal Novellas, and a debut novella from author Thomas Rose.

Australian Horror writers are few and far between. So Thomas Rose makes a welcome addition to the genre.

This story, whilst rather short, introduces lots of intriguing and mysterious components. I hope Thomas can release more of this story. I really need to know what happens next!

The production values and the narrator are well above average. There are lots of ambient background sounds and voice effects. In fact these were some of the best I've experienced in over 100 audiobooks. They really add to the radio play type of feeling I think was intended. I hope this continues. It's a very underutilised device.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait for more.

RECOMMENDED!

Thoroughly enjoyable Australian Horror romp
