About this listen

Emily Ross never expected to survive her deadly fall in the Costa Rican jungle, and she certainly never thought she'd wake up in a strangely futuristic dwelling, held captive by the most beautiful man she'd ever seen. A man who seems to be more than human.

Zaron is on Earth to facilitate the Krinar invasion - and to forget the terrible tragedy that ripped apart his life. Yet when he finds the broken body of a human girl, everything changes. For the first time in years, he feels something more than rage and grief, and Emily is the reason for that. Letting her go would compromise his mission, but keeping her could destroy him all over again.

This is a full-length, standalone romance that takes place approximately five years before The Krinar Chronicles trilogy. You do not have to have listened to that trilogy to enjoy this book.

Alien invasion the prequel...

Emily Ross never imagined she would be out of work and about to die in a foreign country. She never expected to wake and find that she was in perfect health. She never expected to be told of aliens or to be caught in the prequel to an invasion. It should I rephrase and say an alien colonization.

Zaran wanted to be free of his pain. He wanted to be free of his desire for the little human. He wanted to hold on to her forever. He wanted to send her away. He wanted to keep her. Zaran was a Krinar and he was the first wave of exploration for his people.

Roberto Scatloto did an impressive job. I bought it all. His smooth flow from masculine to feminine and the variation. I just feel for his narrative style. Audio is clean, clear, and smooth flowing.

Another good story by Anna Zaires

I liked the story and narrator very much. The only thing keeping me from rating a 5 is that Emily annoyed me quite a bit with how ingrateful she was after having her life literally saved and being healed and brought back from the brink of death. Instead of having some gratitude and maybe a little more appreciation for just being alive, she acts like a spoiled brat and won’t accept having to stay put for a mere two weeks. She was also ridiculously focused on a job interview, rather than having gained some perspective from the near death experience that maybe missing a job interview isn’t the worst thing in the world. The male character was great and patient with her nonsense, maybe more so than he should have been. Other than Emily’s character flaws, I thought the story was really good and quite interesting.

Very good book

The story tells of a woman who’s parents died in a car accident before she was in school. She went to an aunt who was unable to deal with any child much less one traumatized by her loss. She ended up in Foster care until she aged out. She went into the stock market until there was a recession and she was let go. Her 4+ year boyfriend left before that so she went on a vacation.
She should have died in an accident but was saved by a gorgeous extra terrestrial who had the ability to heal her. He had been mated for over 40 years but she had died 8 years before he met this human. They were both terrified of losing someone else that they loved and that caused the angst in the rest of the story.
Very well written and hard to put down.

Another awesome krinar story

it was very touching and believable, I didn't want it to end. They both lost someone dear and so neither one is carrying less baggage

loved the story but....

I wish more than voice had done the performance. a female voice for Emily would have been perfect.

Can't get enough!!!!!!

I can NOT get enough of this series!!!! I first fell in love with the Krinar books when I found Mia and Korum's story. This book, while being shorter, is no less entertaining. Emily and Zaron'ss tory is one that I had a few issues with, the whole stockhom thing, but it was still an entertaining story. Zaron is a K who lost his mate three years shy of the 47 years celebration. The Ks are long lived and his mate died in a freak accident. Not being able to handle the look of his fellow Ks, most of who couldn't understand his sorrow, he left Krina and went to earth as part of an advanced team sent to help with the initial invasion of the Ks. He find Emily in the forest of Costa Rica, broken and bloodied, after she fell from a bridge. After healing her he decides he can't release her and over the course of the two weeks she must stay with him leading up to the arrival of the other Ks the two develop feelings for one another. Zaron is no less intense than how Korum was with Mia. Emily, just like Mia, tries to fight it with everything she has, not able to understand or believe that what's between them is true. I truly wish the author, Anna Zaires, would write more stories in this world. I know other authors have written some stories in the Krinar world, but the authors are the best of all the Krinar stories. Well done tot he author and the narrator for a job well done.

More details

I like the narration of the Krinar voice. The story needed more detail about the Krinar species and there home planet. I enjoyed the description of the sex between the two main characters. The story was good but it could have been a little better in my opinion. Yes, I recommend this book.
