Publisher's summary

From the author of A Lone Wolf, the number one best-selling audiobook, featuring ex-marine sniper and retired CIA operator Michael Wolfe, comes a new international thriller.

The Last Insurgent

He is a ghost. A man who travels the globe selling his bomb-making skills to the highest bidder and one of the last holdouts from the Irish Troubles of the 1990s. Danny McCaffrey offers his talents to Iran that has developed a new bioweapon. Their long-term goal: to disrupt the governments of Western Europe, Israel, and the United States.

When the NSA intercepts an international call hinting at a meeting for this new endeavor, ex-marine sniper and clandestine CIA operative Michael Wolfe is sent to intercept him. When he fails to stop the ex-IRA terrorist in Mexico, he and his equally deadly ex-Mossad wife Nadia are tasked with finding McCaffrey.

The result is a lethal international cat-and-mouse game ranging from the mountains of northern Iran to the streets of Washington, DC. Wolfe and Nadia must stop McCaffrey before he can orchestrate an attack aimed at the president of the United States.

Filled with well-crafted characters and the trademark twists and turns of a J.C. Fields novel, The Last Insurgent will keep you listening on well way past your bedtime.

Wooooowwww!

Buckle up and hang on tight! This book starts at a quick pace and takes off from there. It is non-stop excellence! The characters, Michael and his wife, Nadia, are likable but I wouldn't want to be on their bad side. They are dangerous and they take out the dangerous, all while wanting to just go home and be the married couple that they are. With Joseph, security advisor to the President, and Jerry, their 'handler' on their team they are able to join forces with their counterparts in other countries we learn how just one part of this works. J.C. Fields is an excellent author, and, in my opinion, right up there with the level of James Patterson without the notoriety. Which he deserves.
I listened to this audiobook in 2 days. Yep, an 8 1/2 hour book in 2 days. I couldn't put it down (I got a lot of housework done!!). Paul McSorley is one of my very favorite narrators. He is a story teller. He is the voice actor I look forward to hearing because I BELIEVE him when he becomes one of the characters. I literally can 'see' when Michael Wolfe is clinching his teeth and give him a warning, or when he is in the company of his wife and the softening of his features happens.
I highly recommend ALL of J.C. Fields' books and anything that Paul McSorely narrates!

You want to read or listen to the whole series.

Great series. with books 1 and 2 being so exciting, I cant wait for the rest of the series.

Michael Wolfe and his wife find danger at every turn. But they always seem to find a way out. However, when Danny McCaffrey shows back up on the scene, it looks as though this could be the man to take them down.

The twists and turns are amazing. Great job J.C. Fields.

Nadia Is My Girllllll

Narration is great and I'm so glad because I couldn't stand it if that detracted from the story! Intense, action-filled, and definitely proves that men should listen to women about women. Nadia is my girlll, not a whiner at all. There are few modern day female characters that I find to be totally on point. Nadia is one of those few. I'm ready for the next book in the series.

holy crap that was good.

I love an international action adventure audiobook, especially when it's well done. J.C. Fields has proven that his Sean Kruger series wasn't a fluke but born of talent. I'll be listening to this one repeatedly. I also didn't listen to the first book in this series but that didn't seem necessary when I was listening to book 2. I did wonder how Nadia was French but was also a previous Mossad agent. I may need to pick up book one to get more background or give this another listen in case I missed that.

This is a husband wife team (U.S. Marshal's) who are hired to investigate an Irish terrorist. There are some twists but they didn't feel contrived or thrown in as a last minute idea. The plot unfolded really well. The Nadia's character was relatable and didn't need rescuing (yay!) There were also quite a few foreign locations that added to the interest. I hope Fields continues to write for a long time.

Paul J. McSorley is an excellent narrator and has also been the voice of Sean Kruger. He incorporated many accents/voices as this book was set in quite a few foreign locations. I hope he continues narrating this series also. His voice acting makes you forget you're being read to.

I whole heartedly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys action adventure audiobooks.

Good Storyline

I enjoy the storyline of this series. The author lets the characters tell the story without a lot of editorializing. Good character development and fast paced. If you like stories about hunting down terrorists, you should like this book. One thing though. The narration does not do it for me. The narrator does not have a Middle East or British accent….and the characters call for one. Narration is a personal thing I realize. Others may be ok with it….but I thought the story would be better with someone else doing the narration.
