About this listen

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

This was another great Mitch Rapp book by Vince Flynn. Unfortunately it is the last one available. We want more!

Would you listen to The Last Man again? Why?

Like all Vince Flynn novels the story flows. No factoids that sound like they read from a spec sheet like so many tech novels today. Just human interactions that are timeless and true to character. His books read like Baldacci or Grisham - like an engaging, action-packed story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Kennedy she is Rap's boss and the DCI of CIA. She is the mind behind Rap who is tough and gets the job done. Rap is the muscle.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

George Guidall is the best of the best. No one can touch him. He performs so that all the characters are their own. I never get confused about who is speaking or doing something in the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Dr. Kennedy caught that FBI piece of crap trying to get into see Rap in the hospital.

Any additional comments?

Bad guys you love to hate makes the Rap series so good.

I have the other 12 books of the Mitch Rapp series and found all the story lines excellent spy thrillers. George Guidall reading performance helped keep me engaged. Vince Flynn was a great writer. I hope to see the Mitch Rapp series made into a TV or movie series.

Excellent Series

Another great Rapp book by Flynn. Just kills me to know this is his last to be written by him. I'm hope and pray that The Survivor is as good as all the previous in the Rapp series. Kyle Mills is going to have an extremely hard time filling Flynn's shoes. I couldn't ever stop reading one immediately after the other and hope it stays that way.

Another amazing Rapp book.

What did you love best about The Last Man?

The Mitch Rapp character, the intelligence of the story and it's characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The outcome.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The change in Rapp's character after he was injured.

Any additional comments?

I'd like to see Mitch get involved with the fornsic agent he was flirting with in the hospital.

Mitch Rapp ay his best!

I have read or listened to every single Mitch Rapp book and I love them all, some more than others. I would put this one on the love scale above average but not at the top. The only thing is I don't believe the person reading the story has the appropriate age sounding voice for the characters. It is distracting and takes away from the story and characters.

Great as expected but...
