About this listen

The Invasion of the Highborn.

The mysterious enemy has come, and Tyler Barron and his allies prepare for the final battle, the desperate struggle to save the Rim. Barron’s spacers are ready to fight, as always, but this time they know little of the enemy, and they face technology far beyond their own.

They will fight to the end if necessary, battle with their final breaths to hold back the deadly enemy. They will stand alongside their old enemies, the Hegemony, united for one massive battle, one all out effort to stop the Highborn.

But, even as they prepare to make a stand, they will learn exactly what they are facing, who the Highborn truly are and where they came from…and they will discover that nothing is truly as they’d believed. From the legends of the old empire to the desperate struggle for the future, everything is about to change.

The Last Stand is book 14 of the Blood on the Stars series. Blood on the Stars will continue with book 15, Empire's Ashes.

Love this series. Kafer is the best narrator but these author’s ruin great series by trying to cash in too long. These books are predictable and are the same story with more evil opponents. This book already suggests the next book’s enemy. I’m not sure what the author will do next however. In the first series the fighter pilots were forced to release their torpedos within an unheard of 5,000 meters. In successive books the distances narrowed to 500 meters in the Last Stand. What is next Kamikazi? This is symbolic of the series.

Time to wrap it up.

It`s not often that I read the book on kindle, but this book was so good that I could not stop. And it was just as good when I listened to the audiobook. Even if I have read the next one Empire ashes the story was still very good.
The next book is even better so I’m looking forward to the next audio book.

Still as good as it gets!

I liked the book, the Peformance was realy good,
The any problem is the wait time between books, a year between books is too long. I would like to see more book alot fast.

Can't wait for the follow up. Continues to surprise all the way to the finish. Both exhilarating and heart wrenching at the same time. Can they save humanity? What of the other enemies?

WOW

As always, the story was mostly written well and left me with some surprises.

The only thing that got to me would be some repetitive phrasing with worries or concerns. Mix it up.

Good Story, a little repetitive.

An extremely well narrated story that keeps you on the edge! Where do the Highborne come from? Find out here ....

The end is near!

The storyline is great, though the book could probably be cut by at least 1/3 if you remove all the distraught commentary like "Whatever it takes!". We get it... all 1,478 times.

needs abrigement

consistent quality in the writing and the characters are consistent from book to book which I appreciate impatiently awaiting the next book ....

another great book in the series

normally I like these books and I've enjoyed the series but this book was pretty much just to let down with nothing really resolved and I felt like characters were put into situations just because Jay had nothing else to talk about

overall pretty much a let down

This soap opera of so fare 14 books is really only 10 books. The rest is an endless repetition of the same storys again and again. Dont listen to this series continusly, break it upp into a book now and then or i bet you will find it tidius.

over and over
