About this listen
Hero. Outlaw. Faithful. Rogue. Champion. Vigilante.
How do you fight for justice when the laws are unjust?
Where are the lines between a righteous cause and hate-filled revenge?
The child of a reputable family and a faithful son of the Church, Robert of Locksley had no intention of becoming an outlaw. But the relentless cruelty and tyranny by the elite nobility of England demanded that someone rise up to give answer. And so Robert of Locksley became Robin Hood, a man thrown into a fierce struggle to balance his deep faith with a call to action in a violent age. Featuring over 60 actors, cinematic sound, and original music, The Legends of Robin Hood is an exciting 12-part audio drama from the award-winning Augustine Institute. Bold and inspiring, the Augustine Institute's audio dramas take storytelling to a whole new level of sound that quickens the imagination and inspires the heart.

Story
Robin of Locksley returns from the Crusades to find his people starving and oppressed by the new Sheriff of Nottingham. Under this tyrannical regime, the slightest crime attracts the heaviest punishment, and dissent is impossible. Robin soon discovers that the only way to reason with the Sheriff is with bow and arrow, even if it means sacrificing his lands and becoming an outlaw. This exciting adventure is read by Richard Armitage, who plays Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood. It also features Robin and his loyal band of brothers, as seen in the hit BBC TV series.

Join David as he encounters his eccentric Aunt Betsey, faithful Peggotty and the villainous Uriah Heep, and as he falls in love with Little Em'ly, Dora and Agnes. And then there is old school friend James Steerforth: dashing, daring and seductive. This dramatisation explores the complexities and intimacies of that relationship beyond anything possible in Dickens' day, in an adaptation giving fresh life and vividness to this beloved tale.

The radio dramatisation of The Hobbit became a classic when it was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1968 and it continues to delight today. Tolkien's famous saga, the prelude to the Lord of the Rings, has all the ingredients of fantasy and adventure: dwarves, elves, goblins and trolls, a fearsome dragon, a great wizard, a perilous quest, and a dramatic climax.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great. Like listening to a movie.
Good book for children from ages maybe 7 or 8. There's fighting very little of detailed scenes. No vulgar language that I could tell. No improper conduct or romantic intamacy in the book. Love how Robin wants to have religion in company and wants help through the will of God.

Robin Hood the Religious
Fun telling of tales despite the very heavy dose of religion. The story itself is generally familiar while also different from the Errol Flynn version in many ways. Pleasant distraction while driving.

After many movie versions , I wasn’t sure the audio would measure up, but IT DID! And a perfect length.
While cast was great but I could enjoy Gwilym Lee reading even a recipe!

Sink into the Greenwood.
While the story is relatively simple, it sings with the ethical imperative we've come to love about our beloved Robin Hood. At this moment when we should, indeed, rob from the rich to take care of the poor, this is a delightful rendition of the familiar tales. But the real treat is in the performances and the music. Well done, Lee, Calder, Boulton, Dee, Foster-Barnes, and the rest of the full cast.
