A retelling of the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen of the same name.
Listen to more of the Cyberpunk Fairy Tales, a unique twist on the classic stories you grew up with. Sometimes dark and disturbing like the Grimm stories, other times new and relevant to the modern age.

Here's the basics:
-Sad, cyberpunk semi-futuristic themed short story about little girl/young woman trying to make money selling artificial intelligence family experience simulation.
-Great narrator, British accent. Author made this short story descriptive, well written.
-I sped this up to 1.5x, nothing against the author or narrator, I speed up most narration or I'll fall asleep.
-If this audiobook were part of a collection of short stories, or were on sale, I'd get it, but for $3.95 or a credit, definitely not.
Sad, short story...

Some of them are recordings of happy experiences at home, before her father lost his job. But since these are single-use experiences, each can only be used once. She can either sell it, or use it for a brief escape into a warm, happy memory.
Once used, either by herself or a customer, it's gone.
It's a moving, well-done story--with an ending, inevitable and appropriate, that may not be what everyone wants, in the midst of the pandemic.
Nevertheless, recommended.
I received this audiobook short story as part of a "we're caught in a pandemic; let's do something nice" giveaway, and am reviewing it voluntarily.

What’s it about? A young girl is selling her families memory sticks that are now owned by the corporation as her father and her struggle for basic needs. It’s sad yet heartwarming. It’s a future tech retelling of a HCA tale. I would love for George to expand on this one more for next Christmas. His retelling would be a fantastic Christmas movie (you reading this Amazon? Hint hint…). The narrator, Steve White, did a good job.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: hunger (family unable to meet this basic human need), death.
