About this listen

"The Little Prince" was published in 1943 by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is a poetic tale in which a pilot strands in the desert and meets a young prince fallen to Earth from a tiny asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes social criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world. While it looks like a children's book, it targets adult relationships with deep thoughts on how adults perceive life and each other. "Children should show great understanding towards grown-ups".

Get ready for a trip to see the world differently and learn what is really important. "The Little Prince" is one of the most-translated books in the world and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into 300 languages and dialects (as well as Braille), selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totaling over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best-selling books ever published.©2017 Calygram (P)2017 Calygram

Poorly read. Emotionless. Mistakes were not edited out. $1 performance sold for $5 Gorgeous, intelligent story. Every person is well advised to know it.

Great Book - Awful Performance

This was read by someone who appears to be German. Between the English translation and his accent, he seemed to be reading with no attempt to dramatize or emphasize the story. I missed parts of the story because of his lack of inflection

What a beautiful story. Very touching and easy to listen to. I feel like it really gets to the core of the human heart.

A lovely tale

Loved the reader and the accent, and particularly enjoyed the story.
The professional editing, however, was quite lacking. Several times phrases were repeated, often you could hear background noises of the microphone being contacted, and there should have been slight pauses between chapters. All in all, the defects were bearable because of the reader and the book.

All is great except editing

The story is beautiful but confusing at points. It takes effort to make sure to listen to every detail. The narration was ok, though it needed to be clearer. Still getting used to audio books, but I think this one might be better as a physical book.

Great Story, But Confusing

I love the story and it's deep meaning. It's a classic, akin to Aesop's Fables. The reading is very crisp and clear, but the reader is clearly German and mispronounces many English words.

Great, meaningful story

“The essential is invisible to the eye”. Every time that I read (or listen to) this statement I feel like flying. One of my favorite books, highly recommended in a very good perdormance.

An essential book in any library

I can listen to this again and again. Narrator adds a calming effect to the story

Many people comment about the poor narration, but I think that it is perfect!! My understanding is that this book is supposed to be written as a children's book. I truly felt that I was listening to a 'grown-up' bedtime story as I listened, as I felt the narrator was reading it directly to me. My only complaint, is that I had to get my computer to look up the illustrated pictures of the book to see what the narrator was referring to during some parts (but alas, this is a universal problem with audiobooks).
Otherwise, I LOVE this story and this reading of it! Enjoy!

Narrated perfectly!!!

This is such a lovely story. I feel it should be reread randomly throughout life. Every time I read it it has a new meaning. This time I thought of my mother who passed away in 2019.
This is such a lovely story

A necessary book
