About this listen

As the Imperium of Mankind spreads across the galaxy, bringing all of humanity into its embrace, the advance is spearheaded by the primarchs, superhuman sons of the immortal Emperor. Each of these heroes is a warrior born and a leader bred, but darkness lurks in the hearts of some and threatens to tear apart all that they have worked to build.

This audio drama anthology contains three full-cast tales, starring the primarchs Konrad Curze, better known as the sinister Night Haunter, and Perturabo, the Lord of Iron. In two stories, the seed of treachery in their hearts threatens to derail their efforts to bring unity to the nascent Imperium. In addition, one story focuses on the mysterious Malcador the Sigillite, the Emperor's closest ally and confidant, as he tells secrets to a dying friend.

It is a good set of books. Quick but gives a lot of details. Good read.

excellent all star voice performances and effects and brilliant writing. the stories give insights into some of the darkest aspects of the primarchs, notebly Puturabo and and of course Kurze. And the story with malcador is at turns touching and the chilling as he discribes the Emperor's grand plan to a dieing friend. Kurze gets a absolutely chilling SFX treatment.

a must listen for Heresy Fans!

Three short stories, the last one about Curze is way short. Still, all great stories!

Great Performance, but last story was too short.

I actually got this by accident, but I’m glad I did. Pretty much riveting through all the stories!

Excellent short stories

If you already bought short stories for any of the three here don't buy it. "Stone and Iron" is in this and I had already bought it before this, I suspect the same for Konrad and Malcador.

Overall, I enjoyed these stories. The tale of Malcador would be my favorite of this collection. There are hints of things past and things to come in these stories. I would have preferred to have these as simple audiobook performances rather than the audio dramas with sound effects.

My biggest gripe with this collection is the same gripe I have with all of the Black Library audio dramas: I think the sound design and editing are terrible. Definitely sub-par. The volume of sound effects varies wildly and widely not only over the course of the three stories, not only between chapters in the stories, but sometimes during paragraphs in the stories. I listen to most of my audiobooks during my four hours of commute time to and from my office. I cannot express how frustrating it is to have to turn the volume up to hear what the voice actor is saying and suddenly have the sound of shuffling feet or whichever sound effect they want to add in blare out louder than the actor. At times, the actor's volume suddenly increases and decreases. I understand that at times this is for dramatic effect but it is still annoying to me as I have to keep adjusting the volume between trying to make out a whisper and trying to avoid deafness and keep my eardrums from bursting.

If you can deal with that bit of volume wackiness, then there are three tales in this collection to enjoy. These stories are not interlinked so you could listen to them in any order or even skip one if you wanted. If you are not a fan of Kurze and the Night Lords, you will not miss anything from the Perturabo and Malcador stories.

Already owned these- this is the third time I have bought a GW audiobook and it’s just repackaged audio. Wasted my money again.
