About this listen

This may be Victory’s eeriest voyage yet as the starship plunges into a bizarre nebula of weird compacted gases. They’re hunting for Valerie Noonan, last seen at the destroyed Adok homeworld searching for survivors.

The nebula holds dark secrets, ones that fight back with mass hypnosis and heavy lasers, seeking the crew’s enslavement and worse. Maddox desperately needs his new intuitive sense and fighting skills as he negotiates the treacherous space reefs, alien deceit, and sinister technology. And he risks everything for what his AI companion Galyan desires most.

The Lost Nebula is book 16 in the Lost Starship series, a star-spanning saga of deadly space war and planetary battles as told by millions-best-selling author Vaughn Heppner.

Great continuation

Amazing that this series stays fresh and interesting. Multiple diverse challenging new enemies. A reemergence of an ancient species. Space battles and fisticuffs. Good old fashioned adventure back to roots,

5 stars, but multiple new threads?

This was highly entertaining and I do rate it high in all respects, but so many new threads were opened in this one it makes me doubt that the author intends, or has even conceived, a satisying conclusion to the story.

Not that I am ready for the series to end, but the authors of my favorite sci-fi series all have one trait that I love: Even if they do go on to continue a series, they provide "Waypoint" novels along the way that close enough threads that they can serve as a satisfying conclusion, even if another book were never written in the series. SH. Jucha, and Craig Alanson are two such.

improvement In My Opinion

As with a lot of long running series this one has had some ups and downs. The storyline of this book was less meandering than some of the others and brought focus back to main characters whom I enjoy.

Overall a consistent performance and a decent story that was reminiscent of mid series books more than the last few. If you feel like the last two or three books were "Meh" then I think you will gain some faith back from The Lost Nebula.
