About this listen

An unforgettable story of two courageous couples who risk everything for truth.

Amid a revolution, archaeologist Christopher Jordan and ancient manuscript expert Kathryn Ferguson travel to Syria in search of the original scroll of Marks' Gospel. Paralleling their quest is the story of the evangelist's escape with the scroll from the Roman siege of Jerusalem in 70 C.E., his struggles to complete the manuscript, and his journeys and efforts with the daughter of Peter the Apostle to protect and save it for the ages. For both couples, time is running out and enemies are closing in.

Richly evocative and fiercely moving, this literary thriller explores the hard questions: Did Mark intentionally omit the resurrection story, leaving it shrouded in mystery? Or did it become detached and lost forever?

Discover the answer in The Lost Page.

Critic reviews

"A brilliant novel written with the authority of a scholar and the skill of a gifted storyteller." (Peggy Webb, USA Today best-selling author of The Language of Silence)

A bit uneven but mainly because of the artist doing the reading. I hope to read another one by this author but if it is read by the same person, I’ll pass on the Audible version.

Interesting story, the premise was thought provoking

The narrator did not d a good job. He talked like like the sentences were run on. Character imitations were poor. I deleted the audible file. A waste of my time and money

Poor Narration

I don’t write reviews because I feel authors brave enough to send their work out into the world don’t deserve my layman’s criticism of their work. This however is the exception to that rule. The story wasn’t strong, but I could have managed it if it had not been for the absolutely monotone and actually painful voice actor’s reading of it. I turned it off and just marked it finished because I couldn’t handle one more second of his voice and apparent lack of enthusiasm for the book. If I were the author, I would be furious at the recording of this. It was just extremely poorly done and is really a disservice to the author and to the reader. I’ll be cautious in the future to never purchase another book read by him.

Worst I’ve Ever Suffered Through

I have been listening to audio books for many years and I can honestly say I have never heard such a disengaged narrator. I finished the book, but it was a painful listen.

Intriguing idea but drawn out and made uninteresting by a clearly bored narrator.

Maybe it was the narration, but I was never lost in this story. I think it may have made a better read. The dialogue was stilted and didn’t convey much sense of urgency or excitement. The premise of the story was good, but I had a problem with all the trickery to retrieve the lost treasure. The Arabs were portrayed as ignorant, but helpful. The protagonist couple didn’t sizzle, just simmered.

Interesting but not compelling

This story has been an excellent companion for a traveling preacher, even including the romances.

Imagine knowing how the gospel survived

I was so distracted by the reader's halting and mechanical performance that I probably let that color my enjoyment of the content. Also, the story could more accurately be categorized as Christian romance than an archeological thriller, though the author did seem to possess a reasonable degree of knowledge regarding the historical material. I take umbrage with describing this novel as a thriller because the opposing forces were not unified with a purpose related to suppressing found materials or stealing those materials, for example, but were unfocused and completely circumstantial. i.e. will we make it through customs, etc. I have no doubt that there are those who would find the work enjoyable. It wasn't really my cup of tea.

Not really a thriller. Poorly read.

The story was drawn out. I enjoyed it even though it was very lengthy on description. The main idea was great. The last chapters were exciting. The climax a little lacking.
