The Lost Village Haunting

Adam buys a cottage near the sea to relax. Only the missing village starts to reappear. As his soon to be ex-wife thinks he's going crazy seeing things that are not really their. She remains concerned for him and the state of the home. As he becomes more entranced by the village he may soon meet the same fate it did. The narration was nice. The story was not quite what I expected.

Damn

This was such a great listen. The narrator had me actually believing the character had a case of confused identity, or something like that. He really didn't understand why things were happening and he was the only one who could see and visit this missing town. Was it all in his head, was he really interacting with this missing town from long ago, could he really eat and drink with them? You'll have to listen to find out.

The narrator did an excellent job making it easy to depict each character. He was also fantastic at bringing out each characters personality as well.

Definitely look forward to more from this author and narrator.

Great book!

Wonderfully bizarre story. You keep hoping it ends well despite his dual life in 2 different time periods.

Loved it!

Thoroughly enjoyed the narration and story. Ending was different than I had expected. I could feel the bafflement of the characters and hoped Adam would listen to the warning, but he was already one of them.

I didn’t want this to end!

This is a fairly short story of a man, Adam, who has retired and decided to buy a rundown cottage near the beach...this cottage is the only remaining property of a fishing village hundreds of years earlier. The village had been destroyed by a storm and collapsed into the sea. As Adam settles into his new, laid back life, he plans on renovating the cottage so his kids can visit; he also decides to pursue his dream of painting seascapes. That’s when things start happening...no spoilers...just know that you won’t expect the ending!

The Lost Village

This was an entertaining tale of a village that was lost many years ago to a natural disaster. Adam Collins buys one of the few remaining cottages along the seacoast after being told that he needs to get away from his high pressure job. Soon, he starts to experience strange events that seem to be transporting him back in time.

The longer he lives in the cottage, the further he is drawn into the past. Is he truly living in that past or is he going crazy (as his wife suspects)? He meets local fishermen at the pub, falls in love with a young woman named Charlotte, and has mysterious encounters with an older woman who seems to be his landlady. But, when his wife and children come for a visit, they cannot see the village or any of the people Adam sees.

I enjoyed this short story and was reminded of the movie "Brigadoon", with the village appearing and disappearing at odd times. The author does a good job with creating the mysterious atmosphere and I always enjoy his works. The narrator did a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this audiobook. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
