India and Matt thought all their problems would come to an end once they found Chronos. But the watch magician brings with him as many questions as answers, and a load of trouble. To fix Matt's magic watch, they must find an old diary that once belonged to a doctor magician murdered decades ago. The hunt drags them into a sordid mystery involving two of London's craft guilds. With old and new enemies determined to stop them, and long-held secrets unearthed, Matt and India must work together better than ever.
But as the reason for India's strangely strong magic is revealed, she wants to draw other magicians into the open, while Matt wants to hide magic to keep her safe.
Her plan backfires. His plan shatters. And danger comes to their door.

Love this series

The only flaw I've noticed, and for which I withhold one star, is the fairly typical use of clumsy artifice to delay its romances-- by which I mean: refusals to communicate (everyone), characters suddenly displaying ridiculously childish petulance (India stomping up the stairs), or sensitive, mature male characters suddenly falling into "masculine pride" and behaving in ways that would infuriate any adult woman (I can't be specific because of spoilers, but Matt, I'm looking at you). I understand the author's reason for prolonging India and Matt's romance, but I wish they hadn't used such clichés to achieve that.
Fun, fast moving, and irresistable

good story, poor editing

Unlike the previous books in this series this one does hold up on its own. Also, you can definite see an improvement in the author’s writing in this book.
The characters are even more awesome. This story really plunges them into your heart and if you aren’t attached to them from the first 3 books this book will really make you love them.
The narrator has improved a little with her accents too but she still desperately needs any editor.
