About this listen

India and Matt thought all their problems would come to an end once they found Chronos. But the watch magician brings with him as many questions as answers, and a load of trouble. To fix Matt's magic watch, they must find an old diary that once belonged to a doctor magician murdered decades ago. The hunt drags them into a sordid mystery involving two of London's craft guilds. With old and new enemies determined to stop them, and long-held secrets unearthed, Matt and India must work together better than ever.

But as the reason for India's strangely strong magic is revealed, she wants to draw other magicians into the open, while Matt wants to hide magic to keep her safe.

Her plan backfires. His plan shatters. And danger comes to their door.

good story, poor editing

I enjoyed the story, but the audio editing was done poorly. There were multiple repeated lines throughout

Very Good

Now the story is really picking up! This book was great! Without giving anything away I did not see THAT coming (you’ll know what I mean when you hear it.)
Unlike the previous books in this series this one does hold up on its own. Also, you can definite see an improvement in the author’s writing in this book.
The characters are even more awesome. This story really plunges them into your heart and if you aren’t attached to them from the first 3 books this book will really make you love them.
The narrator has improved a little with her accents too but she still desperately needs any editor.

Enjoyed the story but poor editing

As you are listening along, many lines are repeated. At first I thought it was maybe my Bluetooth cutting in and out but eventually realized it was the editing.

Love this series.

It is soooo good! It’s the fourth book and I am still interested and it keeps you on your toes. The mystery in these books is great and you learn more and more about the characters as it goes. I would recommend this to anyone that likes old fashion books with mystery romance and magic.

The Magician’s Diary

I love that Matt and India’s relationship is finally developing in this installment of the Glass and Steele novels! The mystery and storyline really picked up in this book for me. Looking forward to the next one!

Fun, fast moving, and irresistable

These characters and their world are incredibly engaging, and the reader does a remarkable job of "doing all of the voices." I have gleefully purchased the next book in the series, so obviously I don't doing this book's flaw much of a hindrance.

The only flaw I've noticed, and for which I withhold one star, is the fairly typical use of clumsy artifice to delay its romances-- by which I mean: refusals to communicate (everyone), characters suddenly displaying ridiculously childish petulance (India stomping up the stairs), or sensitive, mature male characters suddenly falling into "masculine pride" and behaving in ways that would infuriate any adult woman (I can't be specific because of spoilers, but Matt, I'm looking at you). I understand the author's reason for prolonging India and Matt's romance, but I wish they hadn't used such clichés to achieve that.
