About this listen

With night at hand and a rainstorm brewing, Milt Dale takes shelter at an old log cabin in the forest. It is here he overhears vengeful men scheming to kidnap Helen, the niece and heiress of a prominent rancher in poor health, and take over her uncle’s vast property themselves.

Determined to thwart the men, Milt leaves his wild paradise and springs into action. After narrowly escaping, Milt leads Helen and her kid sister away from man-made danger and deep into the perceived safety of the forest...but the kidnappers are not far behind, and they are set on carrying out their evil plot.

Great read. Only Zane Grey can make the west rough, tough, beautiful, and romantic. Enjoy!

The language without rank swearing and with intelligent explanations was so very refreshing. I could imagine easily the “Forest” along with the scents of the wild country. True love waiting until committing to a marriage with God to bind it was also refreshing.

The narrator was perfect for The Man!

This novel seems like the result of an assignment where a 17 year old was instructed to write about the most generic and formulaic western plot possible. The characters are stereotypical, the world building is cliche, and the storyline is painfully predictable. I can’t believe I was duped into buying this when it went on sale, and I’m even more surprised by the positive reviews. The sole good thing is all the unique Arizona geography references, as a native it was nice to hear, beyond that just “No” for any fans of westerns who want more than a generic 50’s “Cowboy hero stops the bad guys and gets the girl” that hold zero suspense (or attention)

Nothing more than a narration of a cliche 50’s Western- Predictable and amateurish writing.
