A mother's worst nightmare comes true. Brianna's newborn baby is snatched from the hospital, before she even gets a chance to hold it for the first time.

Trent hires Seth Jacobsen, an ex-marine, to track down their missing infant. But when Seth finds the baby in the hands of a privately hired nurse, Chelsea Andrews, he finds himself conflicted.

Seth couldn't believe how perfect Chelsea was. All she knows is she has been hired to look after a baby, and nobody (no matter how big!) is going to take it away from her. She is a challenge. He doesn't understand how she could be so warm and affectionate one moment, and then so cold the next. Nevertheless he is determined to make this gorgeous girl his. But first, he must return the Coldwell's baby—with a little help from Chelsea.

Chelsea had seen men like him in action films and on the covers of fitness magazines. Tall, muscular and unbearably handsome. But she also knew men like him were trouble. They're only after one thing and Chelsea wasn't about to give her virginity away to just anyone. But she can't help the attraction she feels to him, and when they are forced to work together it will take all her energy to resist his advances....

Eh, not as exciting as I expected

After reading the first book, I eagerly jumped into this one. I thought it was going to be about another couple but following up on what happened with the baby. Here is the problem, it is that but it is also introducing another possible romance as well as jumping around between characters. This is a mixed narrative, however it is too mixed. So many voices telling the story makes things really jumpy and can get confusing.
The bad guy as a bit of the narrative as well, this is strange, it feels like the author has not decided if we should hate him or pity him. I wonder if the series will see him redeemed eventually or if Trent will ultimately take revenge on him. At this point things could go either way.

With everything going on and all the points of view, things are very crowded. This is a short read, it never has the time to gain proper momentum and show a relationship between the leads. Ultimately, I was disappointed and do not think I am going to keep going in this series.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dawn Ann Billings, who does a great job considering all the characters she needed to connect with. There are so many voices, they are not always distinct. Her pace is nice and she has great energy in her read. I would love to try her on something else because I am not sure this really showed her abilities.

Ms North is a newer author for me, I may have to give her a little time before trying another read. She had great premises and an interesting writing style, it just needs more story. I am a big fan of showing the details of a relationship, rather than telling about them after the fact. I might do the next book if it comes to audio, but I am not jumping around begging for it.

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! The marine's virgin lover

I had fun reading this book.
I characters were well blended together.
I know grief does strange things to people,,but to kidnap a new born baby,,wow.
I am glad all worked out for the baby.
The parents were blessed to get there precious
beloved baby back unharmed.
How I love happily ever after stories.
Thank you
