Story was pretty amazing!!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I loved the story but wish there had been more background given. It's like the Authors were no longer interested in writing anymore in this series. Very disappointed that there wasn't a second book in the series.

Good YA Fantasy Novel

Overall The Mark of Noba is a good YA fantasy novel. The characters are engaging, the plot keeps you interested, and the twists are entertaining. While I did find Sterling's "typical" high school experience pre-alien appearance a bit unbelievable Tetra is a great character and her backstory really pulled me in.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

ANOTHER GOOD READ!

I enjoyed it! I have read other books by these authors and now I finally get to read their debut novel! This book was full of adventure and had a humorous vibe at times. This was different than the other books I have read because of the YA genre which was still entertaining. The narration was good. The author did a good job with the character builds and plot. I look forward to reading more books by theses authors! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

well written and Narrator was great

I was gifted this audio ARC from the author for a honest and unbiased review
G L Tomas as I like to say scribbled a fantastic YA science fiction novel. Robert Kazmierczak made the characters in the book come to life. I love his voice for narrating. I will search for his books to listen to.
Now: I loved the book, it captures the fears, insecurities and problems that come with high school kids on a daily basis.
What I really liked about this book was the writing: it's so natural the words flow across the Universe.
This is a YA title but can be enjoyed by all ages. It has something to please everyone: a coming of age story, romance, and fantasy.
I highly recommend this book to everyone

A Fair Start To A YA Series.

Sterling Wayfairer, a Noban, is a high school senior on Geo, an Earth-like world. Sterling, who is about to come into strange powers. Tetra is a girl from Noban, who travels through time and space to make contact with Sterling, the boy she is somehow bonded to. Enter the Naga, a strange and powerful creature who is hell bent on killing Sterling and you have the beginning of the Wayfairer series. I found this YA novel a bit slow in pace, but it did keep my attention. With that said, I don’t know that I would pick up the next book in the series.

Interesting Fantasy Story

I liked this story, but I'm still not really sure I know what was going on most of the time. I got the gist of it. Girl from another world "binds" with a boy to save the world from a creature who takes the form of other people as well as a huge snake. But beyond that, I didn't understand the binding or how Sterling got picked to join with Tetra, how she found him initially, etc. There was very little information about their past encounters or anything about Tetra's background. There was so much missing from the story for me that was never developed by the time the book ended.

That said, I enjoyed the interaction of the students at the school. Some of what happened was downright hilarious. However, there wasn't enough personal information about Tetra to really make me care about her, and I never understood how she seemed invisible to everyone but Sterling for the first part of the book. Did she somehow erase ALL those people's memories continuously? Things like that didn't make sense, but if you suspend your need to understand and know what is going on, it's a pleasant enough diversion from reality.

The narration was good, and the variety of vocal inflection and tone made it easy to distinguish the different characters. The only drawback was that it sounded like a cassette tape running, with hissing and popping/static-type sounds, in the background. It wasn't severe, but it was noticeable.

I would recommend this as a good audiobook for the YA crowd.

A complex universe full of the possible

Where does The Mark of Noba rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was good, and I'd like to listen to the next book in the series, but it wasn't OMG I need to listen to this again right now.

What did you like best about this story?

G.L. Tomas has created a new universe for this story to take place in and there's a lot of information in this book because it's quite complicated. It forms a great set-up for a series, but I found it a bit unclear at times.

Which character – as performed by Robert Kazmierczak – was your favorite?

The narration was great, the character voices were a highlight, even the female voices were well done, I really enjoyed it.

Any additional comments?

Tetra makes for a very interesting character, having come from another planet she's clueless about the culture she's living in and it creates a lot of misunderstandings.

Stirling is a little annoying, mostly because he acts like a typical teen-aged boy but he does change throughout the book, slowly coming to terms with everything that's happening around him.

The plot is really well done, so many twists, I'm looking forward to what this means for the next book.

There are a couple of noticeable shifts in the volume of the book, so you'll need to adjust for that.

Pretty good

I am not a fan of YA. Let me just put that out there. Teenage angst and all that annoy me as I truly do not recall all that in school when I was younger. However, this was such a good story. Sterling and Tetra's characters are so well written. They both stayed true to their characters throughout the whole story. I admit to the beginning being a little rough to get into but it is well worth it. I loved it and can't wait to see what's next.
