So far this has got to be my favorite of the series! I have loved Ellie since her part in the very first story! And I had been hoping that her story was going to be a second chance with her first love. The fact that Nick has come back after 10 years and wants revenge for his broken heart was to be expected. How he thinks he will be getting his revenge, well you can see what will happen from the start! You already know that he won't be able to keep it just sex.... he was in love with her before and he will be in love with her again....funny how these Hero's like to think that they can harden themselves to people that they have already loved (and probably still do if they are so angry STILL that they want revenge). But this was a great one. And there was a suspenseful element to it that had me questioning who the bad guy was! Narration was great, as it has been for the other stories as well.

I loved this story. I do not agree with the reviews calling this “toxic”. Two people were torn apart by family/status, and both were broken hearted.

There’s a thin line btw love & hate

It has the usual sexy,steamy signature this author has. But I am not sure what to think of our hero, Nick here, who came back to England after receiving a couple of life-threatening situations and felt that it may be related to his recently acquired title. Coming home also means that he has to face Ellie, the woman who broke his heart. He was hell-bent on getting revenge, but decided to pursue sexy, dirty schemes instead and they lived happily ever after.

As mentioned, this doesn’t lack the sexy parts that I like from the series, but I cannot understand the hero his moods shift from hot to cold in a snap and there are moments I find it so damn immature. Nonetheless, my familiarity towards the series and the narrators style has made this an easy read, thus I can put those apprehensions aside.

I am off to the last book of the series. Here’s me wishing that it would be wrapped up with a beautiful bow as I reach the last chapter!

Elle did what was asked of her over 10 yrs ago. She wanted to please her father! So she jilted the love of her life for his cousin. Nick loved Elle and when she married his cousin he left and never came back. Elle became a widow 3 days after she married and waited for Nick to return. A decade later Nick finally returns to find out whose trying to kill him and seek revenge on the one woman he ever loved!! A beautiful story of hate and love.

I love this author & narrator & the series I cannot stop going on from 1 to another. I usually give it all 5 stars. However, I went to 4 stars for the story for strictly personal reasons, & to give a WARNING to any lady, young or older, who has had a past of sexual abuse - not only as a child, but as all childhood sexual abuse survivors know, we lose what should be Healthy Boundaries taught to us as children when we had ours removed cruelly as children, so normally most survivors go on to be abused in adulthood, physically, emotionally, &/or sexually. The 1st half of this book the H came home very angry at the h & in his new position of power over her, sadly, he'd planned to have her pay back money she wasn't aware she even owed him, with "sexual games/humiliation/abuses" that she had to go thru every night for 4 months to pay him back. So, I feel as a Survivor myself, that I must put a gentle warning out there for those like myself who live with PTSD, that there are some scenes that may/will push some ugly buttons. But, I can say just after going thru the last 1 when I had decided I was going to have to stop listening to this & move on to the next book in the series, the H wakes up to his love for the h. I was able to finish the book & was happy for it. I recommend if some of the sexual scenes @ the beginning that had to do with evil & not love (albeit, inside both you are aware of love buried), instead of pushing yourself through it & hurting, just fast forward & skip over those & continue on with the good story with a very sweet ending. I know there are some that think "games in the bedroom" can be fun - but ONLY if they are in agreement EQUALLY! It should NEVER be forced or 1-sided! EVER! There are MILLIONS of women who've been treated horribly in bed by fathers & husbands & it is the worst betrayal a woman can go through when she loves her husband. I will say, it was nice to see a man stop & decide he's doing wrong, as in this story. So, in a way, it added a bit of healing to dream that can happen. Thankfully I haven't had to go thru anymore of that in over 25 years, as if 1 man ever even tried, I'd probably change his mind in his sleep about ever doing so again. I'm married to a sweet gentleman who wouldn't have ever dreamed of treating a lady badly. I got my prince after "kissing" several frogs when I was young! Young ladies, hold out for your prince. Life is too short to bother with the frogs. It should only take 1 time for you to run the other way. Someone saying they love you should ALWAYS be shown in a man's actions!

I loved this book. It was different than many HEA books. The characters were flawed, bitter, and angry with the world and each other. Despite it all, their love was deep.
I've read some reviews that said the make character was abusive. I didnt see that at all...their anger and aggression, emotional and sexual, was a two way street.
My only criticism is that the book is a bit too long...at least 5 chapters. could gave been edited out.

Emma Powell's narration was good.
