About this listen

After decades of misinformation about cannabis largely due to the well-funded propaganda campaign in the 1930s, public attitudes toward the drug have finally begun to evolve. In 1996, California became the first state to legalize medical marijuana, and since then, 28 other states, two US territories, and the District of Columbia have followed suit. Now, countless patients are reaping the benefits of this amazing resource that has been used to effectively treat everything from chronic pain to debilitating illnesses.

In The Medical Marijuana Guide: Cannabis and Your Health, Dr. Patricia Frye takes a direct, no-nonsense approach to educating listeners about cannabis and its medicinal qualities. After having retired from medicine, Dr. Frye was offered an opportunity to practice cannabis treatment. Intrigued, she educated herself on this emerging alternative and is now ready to share with others what she has learned.

In this audiobook, using humorous and touching stories from the many situations she has encountered in her practice over the years, Dr. Frye provides valuable information about the undeniable medicinal qualities of cannabis. This audiobook helps to destigmatize this misunderstood drug and educate listeners on the history of cannabis and how it is used by the medical community today.

This is an accessible, enjoyable resource that will not only entertain listeners, but may change their lives for the better.

I now need a hard copy, as a Cannabis bible of sorts. This book should be in the hands of ever medical doctor. Every single one of them should have this information!

Convincing and practical help

I thought this might be really heavy and geared to doctors but I was happy to hear medical marijuana explained in easy to understand terms and with an enthusiasm that made it enjoyable to listen. I was skeptical about it and thought this was just an excuse for people to get high but it made sense from a medical perspective and now I know why it might work and the myths are dispelled. You can't just light up a joint and cure everything that ails you and I learned that getting stoned isn't the most effective way to use it medically. The reader was excellent and easy to listen to and must have a medical background since there were no stumbles on technical and medical terms and the details were all clear and understandable. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone considering medical marijuana.

3 1/2; interesting info but a little light on substance

I’m not experienced with cannabis but interested in learning and have begun my own exploration of medical cannabis. This book is useful and helpful, and thankfully not overly scientific and technical like some other books aimed more at industry professionals. All the same, I noted a lot of filler. The survey of laws by state might be interesting in a printed book where you can look at what applies and skip the rest, but in the audio book you’re stuck listening to the state of cannabis law in Idaho in 2018 and all other states too. The book gets quite repetitive by the end (I heard you say ‘start low, go slow’ the first twenty times.) Book could have been half as long.

Very good reading performance. Narrator did an excellent job with the names of chemical compounds and other scientific words, and with the story overall.
