Fabulous Bill Wallis

The incomparable Bill Wallis does it again. He creates countless distinct voices, and reads this intriguing period mystery with wit, intelligence, and forethought. There's really no one like him.

Historical suspense

Bill Wallis is a phenomenal narrator. He does multiple voices with different accents that are remarkably convincing and distinctive. It's like listening to a cast.
The imagery of a foreign country which comes through from the writing is vivid. The story is a little too much like the last Michael Pearce novel I listened to but still pretty interesting.

More Mamur Zapt books, Please!!!!

This book was fun, interesting, & (as usual) really well researched! A great mystery and a facinating look at Cairo of 1908! It was well writen, and it was very well read by Bill Wallis. There are lots more Mamur Zapt books out there on audio, since more than one publishing company has recorded them. Audible's two are from BBC, but these books are also on Recorded Books & Books-on-Tape. It would be great to see them all on Audible.
