About this listen

Arriving home and discovering the betrayal by her best friend and lover, Eli Fortner leaves to run off her anger and hurt. A chance stop at a convenience store and the purchase of lottery tickets send Eli’s life into a whirlwind of change.

Able to now pursue her dreams, Eli heads off to see what else fate has in store for her.

Whit Brewer, Eli’s neighbor, is everything Eli never knew she needed and wanted. But can she let go of the betrayal long enough to let Whit in?

Thirteen black cats, a baby goat, and Cruz, her furry best friend, join Eli on her adventure, new life, and the possibility of real love.

the storyline of the book sounded different and possibly good, so I bought the audiobook. didn't care for the accents (I know they were in NC but it's far from sexy). the story started at a medium pace then got so slow... step by step of boring stuff about the tractor and boring stuff with Eli's nephew... at one point it's mentioned how a hiking trail goes by the property and I thought how the author must not listen to murder podcasts ha... another 30 min of boredom and I was hoping a strange hiker would hunt them down just to stop me from yawning. also, Eli won like 1 million dollars but somehow she bought picturesque land and is planning construction of a house and tractors, etc... maybe this book was 30 years ago? anyway, not my favorite purchase.

sorry, but boring

Had fun listening to this book and will listen to the rest of the series too. Pretty much a fairy tale life but we can all use a little dreaming.

Enjoyed this book !

The story is sort of a dreams come true after the rough beginning. Engaging, flowing, providing new beginnings and growth and healing for all. Highly recommended. Flows pretty quickly. I don’t playback at 1.5, but 1.

Broken hearts, good fortune, new love

Oh my I love this series, Eli, Whit and the family that Eli has such strong ties to make it priceless. To have it come to life as I listen to them build the life they want on this mountain it such joy. Ali Spooner gives a everyone kind of story with such love. The easy, strong relationship Eli and Whit have adds romance and a loving gift for Eli. The foods they grow and make are so delicious I may need some recipes. Heidi Bindhammer gives voice to southern charm and great warmth. I can't wait till the next two books can be listened too.

Family is just what this mountain needs.

The devil is I. The details but the mind numbing is in the minutia. And this ALL minutia.
The narration is all phony southern accents, and then she swaps the characters’ tones halfway through the story. And the one sex scene was beyond horribly boring with absolutely no chemistry between them.
I took the hit on this one so y’all don’t have to.

ZZZzzzzzzz
