Publisher's summary

A Philadelphia narcotics cop is shot dead in his home. A bar owner's wife and partner are gunned down during an attempted robbery. And in a beautiful mansion, a young woman dies of a heroin overdose. At first the crimes seem unconnected. But these four deaths are about to trigger a massive convergence of corruption, cops, and the mob that could tear the Philadelphia Police Department apart from the inside out. All the way to the top...

Philly Names All Wrong

While I usually enjoy listening to Dick Hill, the producer/editor of this audiobook should have ensured that the names of Philly highways, hospitals, suburban towns, streets, buildings, etc. were pronounced correctly. These mistakes are glaringly evident to millions of people who live or have lived in eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and South Jersey. The city of Brotherly Love is a supporting character in this engrossing series and should not be insulted by producers/editors who are too lazy to get it right.

Repeats

While this is tough to give a negative review, there are so many storyline repeats from all the previous books that the book would be 100 pages shorter without them. not sure I want to continue the series.

Entertaining.

I'm not a fan of Dick Hill, so I was dreading this. He still annoys me, but his reading wasn't as bad as I had braced for.

Entertaining story in the ongoing saga of Matt Payne and his adventures as a young cop. All the typical Griffin trademarks are present. If you've followed the story starting with Men in Blue, you won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed as is normal with Griffin books

Good Griffin story and great narration. As always, character and plot development are so well done the we are very involved in the evolution and point of halt. :-)

Good listen.

The only problem with WEB Griffin as audio book is how much he repeats himself during the book. otherwise, I really enjoyed it

Narrator

Dick Hill does a great job. He has done the WEB Griffin books in the Brotherhood of War and The Corps series. He captures the essence of the author’s writing style with good diction and tone inflection.

Overalll good as usual, Dick Hill Rocks

My only complaint was that there were way too many character developing sidelines where we had to learn all about character that had little or no later significance in the book. This got a little old and its not characteristic of this author. Narrator, Dick Hill, could read the ingredients in a box of cereal and leave me wanting more.
