About this listen

A world split between day and night. Two sisters who must unite it. The author of The Bone Witch kicks off an epic YA fantasy duology perfect for fans of Furyborn.

Generations of twin goddesses have long ruled Aeon - until one sister’s betrayal split their world in two. A Great Abyss now divides two realms: one cloaked in eternal night, the other scorched beneath an ever-burning sun.

While one sister rules the frozen fortress of Aranth, her twin rules the sand-locked Golden City - each with a daughter by their side. Now those young goddesses must set out on separate, equally dangerous journeys in hopes of healing their broken world. No matter the sacrifice it demands.

Told from four interweaving perspectives, this sweeping epic fantasy packs elemental magic, star-crossed romance, and incredible landscapes into a spectacular adventure with the fierce sisterhood of Frozen and the breakneck action of Mad Max: Fury Road.

not what I expected...but AMAZING 👏

so I've recently finished 2 other series of Rin Chupeco (bone witch & the girl from the well). I had expected this series to be somewhat similar to those... boy, was i wrong lol but I must say I enjoyed this thoroughly!! its not what I expected and probably for my own lack of even reading what this was supposed to be about. nevertheless I enjoyed this just the same as I have appreciated the author's other works. I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this book and I loved every minute of it. constantly kept me guessing. The readers of this book were also very engaging and performed it so flawlessly it was like i forgot i was being read the story- as i was watching it flow in my minds eye. i look forward to starting the sequel to this very soon!

Cool premise, but a bit slow

At first, I wasn't sure about this book. I liked the premise, but was confused as to who the bad guys were and what Odessa and Haidee were trying to accomplish. Around 75% it clicked and the last part flew by in a fury of craziness! The world split in half with one side desert and light all the time and one side frozen and in perpetual darkness was so cool and I loved the idea. I also liked the four main characters, they all have their own difficulties and feelings and I shipped the couples hardcore lol. Spoiler alert for a cliffhanger ending, now I can't wait for the next book!

Fantastic, Beautiful, Addicting!

I have listened to this book three times, and it is just as good as the first time that I listened to it! I love the characters, I love the story, it's funny, and heart wrenching, creative and just plain awesome! I highly recommend this book to anyone who also loved Rin Chupeco's Bone Witch Series. I'm a total fan! <3 <3 <3

Confusing at first, but you get into it.

there are some vocab words at the beginning that makes no sense and have to figure out what they mean and later on in the story. A "Cat's Eye" is a skilled spell caster who is an elite soldier. "Gates" are types of magic that can be used. "Galla" are shadow demons.

The story is in the point of views of four different people. These four are of two goddesses and their corresponding love interest. The whole lure of the world being broken and never spinning is the excuse to tell a rather eccentric love story. This is one of those stories where you have to just say "Ok, that's a thing." to. A lot of events don't have explanation, and to be fair, it would just bog down the story. If you're use to the bizarro world of magic and sorcery, this shouldn't be a problem to get into unless you dislike romance novels.

intriguing but I have some issues with it

It kept my interest even though it was a bit slow. It seemed to randomly throw in bits of patriachy, which felt jartingly out of place in this world. not only that, but I feel so bated by what I thought was going to be a gender queer character turned out to just feel like she "didn't deserve the title of lady." Throughout the book, she kept correcting everyone that she is "not a lady" and I was excited to have some nonbinary representation, but in the end it started to almost kind of feel terfy - I recently learned that the author is nonbinary so I truly doubt that was the authors intention, but it was strangely written.
All that being said, I still plan to read the second book so it's obviously not that bad.
