About this listen

Best-selling author Matthew Mather presents the first two books in the Nomad series, now available in a single audiobook collection.

Nomad

When exoplanet researcher Dr. Ben Rollins is told by NASA that a massive object in space could end the world, his first instinct is to call his daughter and wife: something is coming, he tells them. We can’t see it, we don’t know what it is, but it’s there. They’re calling it Nomad, and it’s coming fast. The world erupts into chaos as the end approaches - and Ben discovers that his wife and daughter are trapped. The key to humanity’s survival may rest in the answers he pieces together, in the midst of his frantic scramble to find his family before Nomad swallows the planet.

Sanctuary

In the Day of the Nomad, oceans flooded the continents and the earth split open, pouring darkness into the skies. Jessica Rollins survived, but at what cost? The key to humanity’s survival may lie in the backpack she recovered from her father, in data he collected more than 30 years before. Her father’s words circle around and around in her head. What does the data mean? Who is the mysterious Ufuk Erdogmus? And what is...Sanctuary?

Worth the listen

Made it through the first book out of stubbornness but bailed on the second. Narrator was pretty bad, lots of mispronunciation and couldn't differentiate between characters. Plot was weak and obvious.

Cringeworthy

I really like this author.
Story was good 👍.
But narrator (deep gravely voice) makes every female voice a (20 yrs chain-smoking 3 packs a day) hag!! Not too distracting at first, but it gets worse and worse and worse over time. Like the female voices are “SUPER manly” instead of just lifetime chain-smokers.

Minor Complaint

The narrator has absolutely no idea about what he should be doing! In no way possible did he have any grasp on what tone he should have to convey the tone or correct mood!!!! I really wanted this book to be good but there is no way possible to comprehend this nonsense

Horrible performance

I thought it was really poorly done and it was probably better than this. The science is interesting and the author makes quite the stance about working very hard to make it accurate. For that, I give him credit. However, the character development is lazy and lacking depth. Many of the plot points and twists are a bit absurd and unbelievable. By 3/4 of the way through book 1, I found myself rolling my eyes more than enjoying it and fighting to not just stop. Book 2 is, literally, a labor to listen to completion. I listen to many books, generally like this voice actor, and can push through most poor writing. That said, I found myself regretting the portion of my life I wasted on these. Hope you like them better should you choose to listen or read.
