Publisher's summary

Ending the worlds was supposed to be fun....

After 500 years of imprisonment and torture, Loki the trickster god has broken free and is consumed with revenge. He has a promise to fulfill—he’s coming for the gods and will burn Asgard to the ground for what they did.

Igniting Ragnarok, the end of everything, will be a glorious surprise.

Except the gods have a surprise of their own.

Sigyn, the delightfully stubborn woman he loves, is alive.

This complicates his plans to break all the Nine Worlds. The fact that she also has an elven lord beau complicates them further. After all, three is a crowd.

Loki puts his raging vengeance on hold, wanting to stop what he started and protect Sigyn from a fiery death.

But this is Ragnarok, and one never can predict the apocalypse, and Loki is no longer sure if he’s in control. Chaos isn’t about to start taking orders from anyone, not even the god of chaos himself—and it has a universe to destroy.

Characters are such a delight

For centuries Loki was locked away, tortured, and bound by magic. And for centuries he plotted the downfall of the Gods, the destruction of all, Ragnarok. When Loki is finally released, sparking the apocalypse is the first on his to-do list. But as the chaotic energy of Ragnarok lures him into beginning the world’s destruction, Odin reveals the one thing that could stop Loki. The only problem? Ragnarok has already been unleashed.

The characters in this series are so alluring and unique. Though based on the Gods and Goddesses of Norse mythology, Lyra Wolf has breathed new life into them. This time around the children of Loki are brought to the forefront of the story. Watching Loki attempt a fatherly role, while also maintaining his steadfast attitude was entertaining, to say the least. Each time Loki navigated a new relationship he tested the boundaries, almost to the breaking point. And of course, he made assumptions and choices that were in his best interest, while steadfastly believing it was for the other party's own good. I love this complexity about his character, how he ultimately thinks he is doing the right thing based on his beliefs, yet ends up making mistakes along the way.

And of course, there are smart-aleck quips and mischief abound in this novel as Loki navigates the treacherous calling of Ragnarok. While the humor may not have been as vibrant in this second novel, it still serves a key purpose. With all the seriousness of Ragnarok and even an army of dead marching on the world, Loki’s words and wit break up the gloom and doom of the moment. It also contributes to the novel being a fast-paced and enjoyable read. While I read books that lean on the more serious side, The Order of Chaos stays poised in a perfect balance between light and dark tones.

The characters in The Nine Worlds Rising series are such a delight to read. The depth of emotion they feel and the way Lyra Wolf has captured them in words is truly remarkable. While fans of Norse mythology would enjoy this book and series, I highly recommend any fan of the fantasy genre give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Even better than the first?!

I think I loved it even more than the first book?! How is that possible? The narration was spectacular, the story was masterful, and it was filled with twists I didn’t see coming. I love this reimagining of the Norse legends.

I was hooked

I loved the pacing and how everything tied together, i like how a lot of the pronunciations were close to what they would have been in old Norse. I love the development of each of the beloveds. Writing was amazing, storytelling was phenomenal and I highly recommend the series!

A phenomenal performance of a humorous take on the familiar Ragnarok myth

Once again narrator Casey Eade does a phenomenal job with the sequel to Truth and Other Lies. Loki is back and this time he is discovering modern day pleasures such as ice cream and department stores - all while hurtling towards the horrifying inevitability of Ragnarok. His son Fenrir wolf is a vegan who posts photos of his food on Instagram. All of the tongue in cheek humour comes to life through Casey’s fantastic delivery, her comic timing is spot on with Loki’s sarcasm and wry humour. The excitement is palpable when Odin and Loki fight - first themselves and then the Army of the Dead. Sigyn’s voice is honeyed and sweet and Golda sounds like an old crone. The spirit sounds suitably ominous - Casey’s range is really something! My full review of Lyra Wolf’s amazing take on a familiar Norse story can be found on Amazon.

What a performance!

An entertaining read on its own and a solid sequel, but the narrator makes this well worth the listen! I was engaged from beginning to end, hanging on every word. If you liked the first book, this one is just as good, perhaps even better, with the addition of some pretty compelling characters to the mix. 5 stars overall. Can’t wait for the next one!

Loki's revange is a lie.

SPOILER ALERT. if like me you were sucked in the second book for a reckoning for the horrible deeds the gods did to loki in the first book. prepare to be disappointed, non is coming. I absolutely loved the author to have the balls to make the ending it did in book 1. And absolutely hate the author for zero consequences it has for the gods that did it. This book was really unsatisfying to me.
