Publisher's summary

Since its first publication in 1611, the King James Version of the Bible, with its flowing language and rhythmic prose, has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 400 years and is the greatest English translation ever produced. Early in the 19th century, however, the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to exclude the 14 books known as 'The Apocrypha'. Today, English Bibles with the Apocrypha are becoming more popular again.

Now for the first time, the original unexpurgated version of the King James Bible - complete with all of the Apocrypha - is available as an audiobook performed by British narrator Christopher Glyn, who has been acclaimed for his many Biblical readings and other classic Christian inspirational works.

Christopher’s virtuoso performance, based on a profound knowledge and understanding of the text, offers a rich listening experience that captures the beauty and power of God's word and makes the old English of the King James Bible clear and easy for a modern audience to understand.

My Favorite Bible

I’ve read the 1611 Bible over and over for years, but now my vision is getting worse and it doesn’t come in large print so this is a great option. I love it eve though he’s reading a more updated version and not the actual 1611, Old English version, which is actually the true 1611 King James Bible.

PLEASE GIVE US A GLOSSARY AND TITLES TO NAVIGATE

This is awesome but, there's no way to know what book you're on and there's no way to know what chapter you're on because it's missing titles all the way through. we need a index drastically!

Great performance!

I wanted to read the FULL King James version but could not keep focus long enough in reading it myself. The reader did an amazing job at keeping me engrossed in the story. With over 60 hours of read time, I was impressed with how easy it was to keep focus and get lost in the story.

Great concept, solid performance, but production needs some work

I enjoyed the original King James with Apocrypha. The narration was easy to listen to, but when he slips into dramatization it becomes an interpretation. Please just read the scriptures and allow the reader to interpret. But that is a minor objection, and overall I would applaud the performance. The production however needs some work. Throughout, the audio would suddenly go silent but everything else indicated it was still playing. I had to fast forward and rewind to get it to play again. Worse, starting with the book of John, the formatting is horrible. Everything was fine until John, so apparently the correct format is achievable. Not sure what happened after that, but John is only broken into three chapters, same with Acts, and most of the New Testament is a jumbled mess. Impossible to navigate. The Revelation of John the Devine is formatted correctly, but everything in between needs to be fixed. I hope these comments are constructive, and again I went into detail but my lasting impression will be one of the enjoyment I had listening to the original King James. Thank you for making this title available.
