Publisher's summary

Since her parents were killed, Vivienne has always felt ungrounded, shuffled through the foster care system. Just when liberation finally seems possible - days before her 18th birthday - Vivienne is hospitalized with symptoms no one can explain. The doctors may be puzzled, but Deacon, her mysterious new friend, claims she has an active Nevergene. His far-fetched diagnosis comes with a warning: She is about to become an involuntary test subject for Humanitarian Organization for Order and Knowledge - or H.O.O.K.

Vivienne can either escape to Neverland’s Kensington Academy and learn to fly (Did he really just say fly?), or risk sticking around to become a human lab rat. But accepting a place among The P.A.N. means Vivienne must abandon her life and foster family to safeguard their secrets, and hide in Neverland’s shadows...forever.

A great read

I absolutely love this story. The story line is very clever and intriguing. I cannot wait to start the H.O.O.K tomorrow!

Modern romantic twist on a classic favorite

I read the kindle version and also purchased the audiobook. Even though I knew the story, I felt the narrator was compelling enough and kept each character their own so as to make it almost new to "hear". I love classic retellings, and the hint of romance with a few blush worthy scenes make the story more than a child's bed time story.

the PAN - 1st book in the PAN Trilogy

This book is awesome! It’s a nonstop adventure and you can’t wait to see what happens next. Vivienne and Deacon have a chemistry that you know is going to explode sooner or later. I really wish I had the Nevermore Gene too.

DEFINITELY a story to keep your imagination engaged! Can’t wait to see what happens next in the HOOK and how it all winds up in the CROC

Left me floating on faith trust and pixie dust!

The P.A.N by Jenny Hickman was a sweep-you-off-your-feet kind of romance that leaves you floating on sprinkles of pixie dust, hoping that your heart doesn't spontaneously combust and Zura Johnson's performance brought me home to Neverland where I am forever proud to bea lost girl.

It was such a treat to experience a totally enriching science-y take on a beloved fairytale come to life in audio and instead of listening to my normal 2x speed, I slowed the speed down to 1.05x just to cherish Zura's voice and her whimsical storytelling.

I read the entire P.A.N. Trilogy before the audio was released and listening to the audiobook now as a reread made me fall in love with the first book all over again. Zura is a fantastic narrator and I'm excited to read more of the books her voice is attached to!! It was marvelous!♡

An Excellent Listen

Such a great adventure and Zura Johnson's voice brings it to life. Her narration is like a fine tapestry with all the colors and textures that perfectly illuminate each character. I could listen to her read the phone book. More of Ms. Johnson please!

Fun & Addicting Read

Super fun spin on the original idea of Peter Pan. Characters are loveable and hateable (is that a word). When I finished it I immediately moved onto the 2nd book, Hook. Only bummer is that it seems like book 3, Croc, is not on audible, at least not yet.

Masterful job from the audio actor!!!

I have been wanting to read this series for quite a while. I saw a friend had raved about it on Bookstagram and after hearing it was a Peter Pan retelling, I knew it was going to be a book I loved!

The story is so fresh and exciting. It wasn’t an exact retelling, which made it that much better. Being a “Pan” means you live infinitely longer lives… Oh! And you can fly!! The only downside is you are hunted by H.O.O.K: The Humanitarian Organization for Order & Knowledge. They have a mission to cure the disease that is the Pan’s by eradicating the genes that cause this anomaly.

The MC’s, Vivienne and Deacon, are incredible. They are literally the perfect Wendy and Peter. What is even better is the job that the audio actor does on this book. Zura Johnson did an impressive job giving us precise voices for each of the characters. I have listened to books recently where I’m confused who is speaking, but never once did I have that problem. Even if a name wasn’t said, I would have known the character. My hat is literally off to you, Ma’am!

I am super excited to see where this story goes! I am immediately picking up Book 2!!

Great Concept, But Lost Interest

Great concept and I love a good Peter Pan retelling probably more than any other fairy tale, so I was an easy sucker for this one. I liked the medical explanation behind the premise, but as the book (and the series) went on, I really hated the main character and eventually stopped reading. Still, enough interest to get me to buy the second book, so that must mean something--the author got me there. But I really couldn't manage to finish it. Try it if you like the Peter Pan story, and it might be for you. If you don't like mundane teenage drama, then pass on this one.
