About this listen

The year is 2066, and the world is oblivious to the threat it faces.

The fate of humanity lies on the shoulders of Burt Radcliffe, the new head of NASA's Near Earth Object program. He's been rushing the completion of DefenseNet, a ring of satellites that are both part of an early-warning system, as well as the means to eliminate incoming threats.

Yet Burt knows that despite the world's best efforts, nothing can be done about the alert he's just received. Coming out of deep space is a danger that's been approaching since the dawn of time. A black hole. An unstoppable threat that promises death for all in its wake.

Dave Holmes was a modern-day Einstein. As the original architect of DefenseNet, he'd had visions of this Primordial Threat before he disappeared, yet he'd left behind no details on how the problem might be solved. Can Holmes be found, and if so, will his solution even work?

The world has less than a year to find out.

Nothing was wrong with this audio but at moments it got a little boring and kept switching back and forth, but overall ok

very well written story with a cast of likeable characters. Narration also exceeded expectations. normally I cringe when a man tries to do a female voice... much less one with a foreign accent. the male and female voice were all distinct, appropriate, and didn't break the immersion in the story.

great story

OMG, I have not read or listened to this author before and had no real expectations. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this. I have just finished listening to it and cannot wait to listen to the sequel. What a beautiful setup for a sequel. Yup, loved it. I hope it is made into a movie it would be a great one.

Wow ... what an amazing suprise.

The narrator's attempt at a female British accent is horrible and just as I get into the story it appears and I am instantly jolted out of the story.... repeatedly. I will read the book instead because the story is good so far.

Atrocious British accent is difficult to listen to

Just enough suspense to keep me listening, but not so thrilling that I had to worry about my driving

Kept my interest

I recommend this book to anyone who does not believe in God. Atheist and the self- absorbed will love it…

Performance was great. Plot… predictable

It was gripping, nail biting and even a bit thrilling…for about an hour.

Spoiler…ish.
The start was very promising. I was curious where it was going to go and how it was going to play out but then, that was it.

There was a character who ended up being completely unnecessary to the overall story. Him and his adventure meant nothing. You’ll know it when you hear it. You can skip all his parts.

Then, once the problem was solved, that was it. All sense of peril gone. I thought maybe there was going to be some lurking danger, an unforeseen obstacle to overcome, heck, I would have taken a disaster movie cliche or two. But nope. The author played it way too safe which is such a shame given the way it started.

Didn’t quite stick the landing.

Please write a sequel! You can’t leave us wondering what could happen next! I love your stories. Please put all your books on audible.

Overall I like the book. I wouldn't say I liked the ending because it was cheesy and weak. It was like the author forgot he had to finish the story and pumped out something quick and easy.
My major complaints are: What was the point of Bella? The cop? THE CULT?!! I was excited about all of their introductions. They all had potential, and then.....nothing.

I hated the ending

This is truly a classic science fiction story and should leave the author listed among some of the greatest science fiction authors like Larry Niven and Author C. Clarke.
