About this listen

Your loved ones lie to you. Your enemies tell the truth. Who would you trust?

In a dystopian future, the Dominion tyranny rules over an oppressed civilization. But it also protects them from the deadly DRK virus, or so they claim. Vale Olander, a telepathic Dominion heir, knows he is not his father's favorite son. Living in the shadow of his charismatic twin brother, Vale must find a place in his father's Dominion empire. But when Vale encounters a team of rebels, he must make a choice: Will he remain loyal and serve his brother, or will he fight for those his family has oppressed?

A good story with excellent narration

This short is a good story with excellent narration, however it's probably not the best place to start.
I picked this up as my first read by the author. I enjoyed the writing style, but felt lost at times during the story. After looking into it I found this is a short story that is part of a larger series of longer books. Which are not on audible yet. It did feel like I was following Paul Atreides for much of the story. Even so I found it enjoyable despite not knowing the world as much as I'd prefer.
My favorite part was the narration. Haskill has an excellent reading voice, making it feel like you're curled up on the sofa while he's reading you a book. I enjoyed his character voices, something that can really spoil an audio book if not done well.
While I'd recommend the book, it might be worth looking into the order in which the rest of the books in the series takes place and start from there. After finishing I find myself wanting more info on this world the author has created, and more audio books read by Stephen C Haskill!
